Question about Water Water Heaters
What does reset switch do? Heater works on 240 v ...but troubles on gas. At last orange indicator light works after 12 tries, eventually getting gas to fire up for only 4 sesonds . Did this 5 times by turning 12 v power off & on again, eventually it stayed on to heat up a full tank yesterday. However today water has cooled off , orange light is on but unit is not firing up. About to hit it with compressed air. Last year i pulled out sacrificial anode all good there, pressure relief valve good ....what is it ? Of course boilerfuse is ok PLEASE HELP Rob Jayco Outback 2013 possible bad control board
SOURCE: gas water heater goes cool
The dip tube which carries the incoming cold water to the bottom of the tank is bad/gone. If you can find a rheem dealer you MAY be able to get a new one but it's probably time for a new water heater

Most electronic ignition models only show the red light if there is a problem, (did not ignite) for one reason or another. To start with, make sure your propane is on, and you have a good flame at stove top burner, just to be sure the water heater is getting propane, and all air is bled from the line, which may cause water heater to go into check. (red light) If it does, shut switch off, and retry. Let me know what happens. As far as pressure relief opening and emptying the water heater, and your sure it's not a faulty pressure relief valve, then there's 2 things to start with checking. 1st, does the water seem extremely hot, thus a possible faulty thermostat &/or ECO . Secondly, if the incoming water pressure is too high, that will also cause it to leak bad. Try installing a pressure regulator (usually 40 psi.) at your hose connection. Let me know what you find.

You said you had the gas line checked does this mean that you had pressure checked to gas valve or beyond to burner. I would check on gas valve and see if there is a test plug.If so I would loosen it and turn thermostat up to call for heat and see if you get any gas flow.If you have gas at this pointthe ignitor does not work then replace ignitorIf it tries to light but won't then I would remove burner assembly and make shure orifice is clean.
If you have gas into gas valve but not out then you probably need to replace the gas valve. With being 4 yrs.old the parys should be covered by warranty.Best of luck and thank you

Have you tried turning the temperature down. If so and still have problem shut breaker off, let cool completely and then drain the tank by connecting a water hose to it. Sediment tends to build up on the bottom. When finished disconnect hose, turn valve closed, let tank completely. Fill before turning breaker on.
