SOURCE: How much oil and popcorn kernels to use in gold medal machine

Try one ounce of oil, 1/2 teaspoon popcorn salt and 1/2 cup of popcorn and see how much it fills your machine and adjust quantities from there. This will usually fill a wok size bowl.

SOURCE: I have a Gold Medal Popcorn Machine 2086. The

I hate to put this as a solution because it really isn't. I have an old popper needing a new kettle and was told it was almost as much to purchase a new kettle than the whole machine. The kettle is almost the entire cost of the unit. I will be purchasing a new unit.

The thermostat likely may be bad.

Gold Medal has an excellent online support to buy parts and they even offer live chat during business hours (see website). Their toll-free number is: 1-800-543-0862 .

Parts that are available (for the 2408) to buy online:

My popcorn maker won't spin the kernels. I think it's the stir rod?

There are many possible problems that will cause your agitator to not spin, But you said the gear in the cabinet comes off easily, it should not.
There is a flat part of the motor shaft that extends thru the top of the cabinet that the gear should be tightened onto with an allen wrench via a set screw. This is the first place to check. When the motor is on, you should not be able to stop that cabinet gear from turning. (not easily anyway).

Why is my gold medal popcorn model # 2552 machine not heating to pop popcorn anymore?

A kettle not heating is either a switch, kettle wires, thermostat, or kettle heater.

Check that the kettle is plugged in tight, notice if the switch lights up when switched, then contact your local gold medal dealer for repairs. It is always cheaper to repair a gold medal kettle than replace.

Gold Medal Deluxe Pinto Pop Popcorn Machine Model 2147 will not heat up

If the switch is OK and you have. Power at the kettle plug and you are not getting any heat it's one of 3 things. Burned wire inside the kettle. this is common. Or it could be the thermostat is bad or the element itself is out?

Agitator has come out of popcorn machine

if you have a gold medal popper, there is a weight on the shaft the sits over the middle hump of the stir wire. you must take the lid asembly off of the kettle to get the stir wire back in.
they do not fall out without some thing else wrong, check if the shaft is broken under neath the weight.

When turning agitator on it gets jammed in the spur gear.

This is a hard symptom to troubleshoot, it can have many different causes.
1. Is the stire wire in the kettle straight and spinning freely?
2. Does the agitator shaft spin freely in the crossbar?
3. Is there a small needle bearing on top of the spur gear attached to the kettle? it is a small metal circle that spins independently of the agitator shaft located ontop of the kettle spur gear, it can fall off.
4. The plastic block in the cabinet roof that has the motor spur gear coming out of it, is it cracked?
5. Does the motor turn when the switch is turned on with the kettle in the dump position?

All of these can lead to an answer of why the agitator stops turning while popping.

Agitator will not slip through cross bar after all bushings are removed!

The bushings in Gold Medal Cross bars should not be removed. Could you mean the Set collars?

I have had kettles where I have had to hammer the agitator out of the crossbar pretty heavily. Carbon from the oil can get up in there and lock it into place.
Place the crossbar in a bench vice to support the sides close to the center, but not tightened. Be sure to use a piece of wood(you will destroy the scrap wood in the process) between the hammer and the agitator shaft to prevent damaging the agitator shaft.

Do you do popcorn machine 8oz stirring rod please?

Your question has more questions than answers. You choose a Gold Medal 2408 Popcorn popper as your model, but it does not have a 60ktyz motor, the stir rod and shaft are separate from the motor, and you can't get parts for it on ebay.

What model machine do you have?

I have a Pop-A-Lot model 2007, serial DAU-S- 4591 where can I buy a new stirring shaft and the bronze bearing that it rides in?

Any stocking Gold Medal dealer should have parts for you. You will need to buy the agitator and cross-bar assembly, the bearing is generally not sold separately.
