I have a Coleman gas heater. My heat won't come on. I can here the blower comming on when I turn on the thermonstat. However no heat will come out. I went up in the attic and the heater instructed me not to light it with a flame. There was a yellow spiral kind of pipe with what look like a little yellow open and close valve. It looked like you should turn it and let the gas come in the heater from the gas line.I wasn't sure if it really was how to turn on the heater. I need some help. should I call the gas company or another company.

Replaced thermalcouple and pilot light still won't stay lit

If the pilot light won't stay lit and the thermocouple is okay, then the thermostatic control valve may be defective. Replacement of this part should be performed by a trained gas technician. ... If your gas water heater doesn't stay lit, you may have a defective thermocouple.

What is the correct way to light a Coleman Presidential heater?

The older Coleman Presidentials had a screw-cap with mica in the center. You unscrewed the cap and used a telescoping match holder to reach in to the thermocouple/pilot light and lit it once you twisted the gas control to the 'pilot' position and depressed the controls button or lever. I don't know the specifics on the newer Preidentials Chester, but it has to be similar.

I have a coleman model 7680B series 856 with a pilot light that won't stay lit

You need a themocouple, it's a cheap $10.00 part you can get at any hardware store, you have a standing pilot light furnace like mine, if your handy and safe you can put one in easy, youtube is loaded with videos on how to do it. These other answers are wrong for your unit.

The pilot light will not stay lit to light the heater.

The power pile (pilot generator) is defective. It produces a milivolt signal to ensure to keep the gas valve open. If it goes bad, the valve thinks the pilot is out, even when you are holding the button down, so when you release the button, it shuts the gas off to prevent excess gas buildup and a possible explosion.

I have a coleman evcon and the gas keeps shutting off

The click noise you hear is the magnet inside the valve dropping out. Which means, the voltage that energizes it is low or interupted. Possible, weak pilot flame, bad thermocouple or bad secondary limit switch. This limit switch is located left of the main control. made of ceramic. It can also be a bad gas valve...

Coleman Presidential II Heater won't come on

You should have 3 wires going to the gas valve - MV(mainvalve), PV(pilot valve) and MV/PV (or Common). Make sure all of these are properly wired and tight.
You also may have a dirty FLAME SENSOR on your pilot/ignitor assembly. You may need to remove the pilot tube and the pilot assembly to clean the sensor with sandpaper.
Be careful not to damage any parts while cleaning them. Be careful not to crossthread the gas line when re-installing it.

You may have one of two problems; The pilot orifice is very small and allows only a limited flow and any air trapped in the gas supply takes some time to bleed out while you are holding down the pilot button. Or the pilot orifice may be plugged in which case you would have to replace it.

No Gas in Heating Element

If you are using the heater at temperatures below 40 degrees, ther will not be enough gas vapor to run the heater. If the temperature is above 40, look for an obstruction in the gas piping or gas valve itself. There is a small screen on the inlet side of the gas valve that you can inspect if you remove the inlet hose. Make sure you reinstall the hose using a teflon base pipe sealant on the threads.
