You may be able to install Win7 from a USB device.
Install Win7 onto a USB device (8Gb is large enough) and boot from it.
Follow the prompts.

Creating recovery discs After setting up the computer for the first time, be sure to create a set of recovery discs of the full factory image. the recovery discs are used to start up (boot) the computer and recover the operating system and software to factory settings in case of system instability or failure.

SOURCE: Windows doesn't recognize recovery partition after os reinstall

The issue you are having involves using multiple systems,...If your emachine came with vistan and you installed xp, you voided your warranty status...However remove your dual boot and stick to vista if you wanna keep your restore partition working properly.....On a side note theres usually conflict with running OEM OS's on dual boot...typically it doesnt work and if it does it doesnt work like you want it to! so here is what you can do..Call Emachine up and fib to them a bit (just alittle) tell them that you cought a nasty bug and it messed with your restore partition and now you cant restore your pc....request the factory programing discs (if you ask nicely they'll hook you up 99.99% of the time) you get the discs so you can reprogram the pc to factory spec if you ever wanted to. Now use a retail version of vista and a retail version of xp. and create your dual boot, feel free to remove your restore partition if you want (cause you have the factory programing discs if you wanna go back to stock stuff YAY) I hope this helps!

No operating system and when it turns on it says the boot manager is missing

If you have your settings in the bios to boot from your optical drive you should be able to insert your windows 7 disc and choose to boot from it then just follow instructions.

How do I restore my computer using the eRecovery Management program outside of Windows? How do I restore my computer using the eRecovery Management program outside of Windows?
Select models, with Microsoft Windows, have the ability to have the Operating System reinstalled from a hidden partition built into the computer.
Note: During the process, all data stored on your computer will be overwritten. This means all your files, such as email and photos, will be erased. Therefore, we recommend making a backup of all personal data before starting the recovery process.
Note: For video guided assistance using the eRecovery Management program to restore your computer please visit our How do I restore my computer using the eRecovery Management program? answer.

To start the system recovery:

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase the set online from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form..
Note: If your computer does not have an internal optical disc drive, an external optical disc drive will be required in order to recover the Operating System using Acer Recovery Media.
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
  3. Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
  4. Close the CD-ROM tray.
  5. Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
  6. The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media
  7. When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.
Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.

I formatted my Acer Aspire One and installed Fedora Linux, but I need to re-install Windows 7 Starter. The shop I purchased it from gave me 3 Acer Aspire D255 Windows 7 Starter DVD disks which I...

To reinstall you need an external DVDROM drive and run directly the windows 7 installer as boot up disk. Because it need to run alone as boot up disk and surely it will not run when you just copy the files to external HDD.

Acer Aspire 5100 will not boot from ****

The best way to handle this is to completely reformat the drive again, to rid win 7 and the bad XP, and to then re-install XP from the DVD all anew. Any other way is just going to cause hassles trust me.
