Vista recognizes the disk but wont open anything

Try inserting the pen drive into another computer to see if you can open the data on this pen drive.
If not you may need to format the pen drive.

first remove the power and inspect the power to the hard disk remove the power connector and insert any other power connector and power on the system and see the cd led is blinking and still you are not able to open the CD cover use a needle and insert the needle in the hole just below the CD tray and push it lightly the CD cover will open now also check the power and id cable of the hard disk now restart the computer and see whether both device are recognized by the system in the post bios

Your USB IS DAMAGED TRY TO PULL OF THE COVER OF THE USB DAN CLEAN IT WITH A TOOTH BRUSH OR ANY SOFT BRUSH DAN PUT IT BACK TO YOUR COMPUTER AND GO STRAIGHT TO MY COMPUTER AND FORMAT IT USING QUICK FORMAT SYSTEM. :)

Go to Device manager and totally remove/un-install ALL/ anything USB...
Then reboot the PC, DO NOT plug anything USB in yet.
PC will start then install usb structure.. then reboot.
NOW try ya USB things ... ya prob good to go.

You will have to open up the computer and physically remove the drive. Either the cable is the problem or the drive is u/s. They are pretty easy to remove and replace, also they are not expensive to buy...try ebay for some good cheap drives!

Does it recognize any other disks? It could be a problem with the disk drive itself.. maybe try getting an external USB-disk drive for testing. It may show issue's with the disk drive itself and you may need to replace it.

Please try to uninstall/unplug one of your DVD ROM Drives, as they might be in conflict with each other. regards

IF the win98 box wont recognize the usb stick you will need to install the drivers in order for the OS to recognize the device, after this you should be able to see the device and files on it

It sounds like Vista has recognized the device as a CD-ROM drive, but NOT as a DVD-ROM drive, and the disk you have inserted is a DVD.

Try getting an updated driver and possibly a new firmware from http://www.lge.com/support/software.jsp
