A question about my (almost 20 yr old) portable Moffat Quiet Motor dishwasher. Recently the dishwasher has been filling with water but then seems to drain water immediately after. Therefore, when the dishwasher should be going through a wash/rinse cycle it's just circulating a tiny bit of water through the bottom arms. It seemed as if maybe it needed more water so I manually added a jug of hot water which of course then caused the dishwasher to start draining water. The really weird thing is, if I turn my dial to the hotstart option I can get the dishwasher to go through one good cycle where water is actually circulating the dishwasher but after that nothing. Any ideas?

SPT SD-9239W portable dishwasher makes a buzzing sound during pre-fill drain and draining on all parts of cycles. Washes fine, rinse is good, drain is noisy. Dishwasher is about 4 years old.

This is normal. Countertop dishwashers have two motors inside. The drain motor is a inductive type motor. They are noisy. They all work this way during draining.

Kenmore Ultrawash Quiet Guard 5 making buzzing/grinding noise

I have a very similar dishwasher, with a very similar problem. I fixed it by removing debris from the water evacuator pump located towards the front of the bottom of the machine (the last motor before the drain hose. In my case, grape stems had clogged it up. Once emptied, it purrs once again. NOTE: don't disassemble the motor, just flush it out, there is an o-ring gasket that is a bear to re-install.

Kenmore elite dishwasher noise

I had the same problem where rubber gasket that seals the motor bearings leaked water into the bearing and rusted out the bearing.

I scrapped the motor into every little pieces and extracted the bearing and just replace it. Now it is quiet as a mouse.

You need a bearing puller to get the bearing out for about $20 and the bearing is $6.
During the repair i slightly bent the shaft and i didn't straightened it properly so it wobbles a bit. But it works and if really quiet.

Quiet Series 100

It sound like a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher. The motor (and pump) located beneath the dishwasher. Check if pump spins when it should force the water up into the sprayer arms. In case it doesn't spin you should replace the pump. Good luck !
