My Nikon Coolpix S210 is just a little over 1 year (= warranty out, I've had it for 1 year 3 months)
About 3 months ago I started experiencing problem with the camera ON/OFF button. I press the button
to activate the camera but it does not work. I see
green flashing light, lense will not zoom out & screen is black.
I replaced battery, charged it and the same problem consisted. I contacted Nikon customer service and they told me to take out battery & memory card then
press down shutter button for 30 seconds to reset the
camera. Then put the battery back on by pressing ON/OFF button. That did not work either. Then just
2 weeks ago I turned on the camera and it worked.
But after shutting it down again, the same green flashing light came on and the camera hadn't worked since. What could be wrong with my digital camera?
Had a similar issue with my Pentax, it would power on and power back off. Tried playing with it for a while and it never recovered. Chances are its time to replace it. These new electronics are jam packed with lots of mini moving parts and are prone to excessive wear over time. they're are no servicable parts inside them unfortunately. I would try ebay for a reasonable replacement camera.
