What is pop radar

When radar detectors proved easily capable of sniffing out radar from miles away, radar gun manufacturers responded by producing instant-on radar or unoffically called "Pulse" radar. In the instant-on mode, the radar's transmitter is placed on hold, ready to fire but not yet producing a signal for detectors to hear. The officer waits until his target is very close (brings a new meaning to "wait till you see the whites of their eyes") then releases the radar from stand by mode and gets a speed reading within a second or so (pulse). In this situation, no detector offers much warning.
There are guns out there that operate just like the instant-on guns of the past but with a very tough twist - POPTM mode! This gun is a normal K and Ka band radar gun detectable by most radar detectors made in the past 30 years, until this gun is placed in POP mode. When the gun is in POPā„¢ Mode and activated, a brief burst of energy, less than 1/15 of a second, is transmitted and the vehicle's speed is quickly acquired. A detector without POPā„¢ Mode detection capability cannot respond to this brief transmission.
TIP - When traveling in unfamiliar highways always try to find a vehicle which is traveling at the same rate or faster than you are and keep several car lengths behind them. This way the other vehicle can "flush out the radar".

Where do I insert the batteries on the star wars millenium falcon toy?

Locate the turrent on the top center. Just behind it is the On/Off switch. Behind it are 6 black, round engine-looking pods. That is the top cover. There are two tabs right behind the On/Off switch you push back on to remove the cover. Grab your screwdriver and remove the battery door. Uses 3 "AA" batteries.

How do i read a radar detector

When a radar or laser is detected, the unit will make noise. As you get closer to the source of the radar or laser, the noise will get louder and the signal levels (if you have a detector that shows signal level) will get stronger.
Since police officers like to wait until you are close to them, they may keep their radar guns turned off until you are very close to them. Once they turn it on, you are likely to be busted unless you can REALLY slow down quickly. Most radar guns take a series of average measurements on the speeding car. If the samples are too far apart, it keeps looking for a series of successive speeds that are close. This happens in a few tenths of a second.
SO even if you hear a SLIGHT noise from your detector, it may have been from a brief instant on radar gun in front of you, so BEWARE until you are sure that there is no threat.

The valentine detectors use multiple antennas to tell you where the signal is coming from. This is handy.

What is pop and spector mean

POP is a type of radar mode which only a couple of radar guns have. In essence, radar gun in POP mode emits an extremely brief signal to measure a car's speed. This brief signal lasts for less than 1/5 of a second. POP mode can not legally be used to write speeding tickets since it is not as accurate as the radar gun's normal operating modes, and since POP mode provides absolutely no radar tracking history.

Most people turn off POP mode in their radar detector's options since POP radar is very rarely encountered and since users experience excessive false alerts with POP turned on.

Spectre refers to the Spectre radar detector detector (RDD) which police use to locate drivers who are using radar detectors. The current Spectre models in use by law enforcement are the Spectre III and IV models. Some Cobra radar detectors claim to be able to detect the Spectre I. This is of no value since all Spectre I RDDs have been upgraded to later Spectre models which Cobra radar detectors can not detect. In short, turn Spectre detection off since this feature is a needless source of false alerts.

Cobra XRS 9440 will not detect police radar. Does not alert when I drive by a police car. How can I fix this problem? Is there a way to change the settings so that I can be alerted when there is police...

Radar detectors are not police detectors. Radar detectors only alert to police when the police have their radar guns turned on. Most police officers operate their radar guns in "instant-on" mode rather than leaving their radar guns turned on continuously. Instant-on operation involves very briefly turning the radar gun on for up to a second or two in order to get a vehicle's speed.

Cobra radar detectors are known to have great difficulty detecting the 35.5 Ka band radar gun frequency. This should be considered a serious problem since 35.5 Ka is the second most popular Ka radar gun frequency following the most commonly encountered 34.7 Ka radar gun frequency. There isn't much that Cobra can do about this issue since their competitors hold all of the really good patented solutions for detecting 35.5 Ka police radar while ignoring false alerts caused on this frequency due to other radar detectors.

Can a radar still display your locked speed if the unit is turned off. An officer gave me a ticket.. Ā I was driving and saw the patrol car, my radar detector came on when he turned his on then he turned...

Yes. On many radar gun models the officer can lock your speed and turn the radar gun off, yet the radar gun will still display the locked speed. Officers are not required to show you the locked speed.

Does not sound alarm till its to late

The lower end Whistler radar detector models do not have particularly good performance against all radar gun frequencies. Whistler's XTR-690, Pro78 and XTR-695 on the other hand do perform very well against all police radar guns. Its basically a matter of you get what you pay for.
