Check the connectors that feed the board. When a blow dryer heats up the board it also heats the connectors. Maybe the blow dryer was heating something close to the board that might have a cold solder or poorly crimped connection. Go back to the original board after looking very closely at the connectors.

Make sure that the power button is conected to the right prongs on the mother board. On the writing next to the prongs it should say power.

SOURCE: AMD sempron power supply

Hi,

I would venture that "shows winfast on monitor" indicates the type of Video Card that your PC is using. Thereafter it should go to POST showing the motherboard, BIOS, memory count and others.

Since as you posted, after Winfast nothing follows, I can only suspect that you have a motherboard problem or at least a BIOS corruption.

Please post back the brand and model of your computer or at least what motherboard.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: System won't power up

Hi,

Based on your description, we can limit the fault to the power supply board and in particular to possibly 3~4 components:

  • bridge diode;
  • filter capacitor (mains);
  • regulator;
  • filter capacitor (secondary).
blown fuse indicate a short in any of these.

As Jaime867 has suggested, in the absence of a readily available replacement board, component level might be the best alternative at the moment. Having posted the most likely culprits further narrows down your troubleshooting. Could you pls post back the part number of the smaller IC either 4 or 8 pins?

Alternately, pls check for the presence of a VDR, it would look like a coin (often green in color or something else) with 2 pins. They have been known to short out also and cause fuse to blow. One possible indicator is chipped or flaked of one side or a hairline crack on top. If it is chip, there would be a silvery color on the inside.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

No backlight in samsung un60f6300afxza

1. open the back cover of the TV, disconnect the cable between the main board & the power supply.
2. Apply the AC power to the power module, if the back lights are not light up, change the LED strips (IF the back lights are bad, in some case, the power supply also been damaged), If the back lights are light up, please change the main board.

Black screen no video no audio suddenly now

This set is a 50" plasma. first check the AC power fuse on the filter board then: if it is bad: check the power supply by marking and, removing all the cables; (so you can put them back in the correct spot) except the filter board to power supply cable; that connects to the Power supply board. Then: replace the blown AC fuse and, re-power: If the power supply blows the fuse: again, the power supply is bad and, must be replaced or, repaired. If the fuse does not blow: turn off the set then: on again, reconnecting and, disconnecting each board cable in turn, untill the fuse blows again this cable leads to the bad board; replace or, repair the board that blows the AC fuse every time the bad board is connected, irregardless of which other cable to the power supply may be connected also; or, not.

Hi i changed colour cartridge tried trial run printer died; changed fuse in plug; still no power any suggestions please

in the printer there is a power supply board.there is a same type of 3amp fuse on the power supply board.if there is any kind of overheating in the power then the fuse in the plug and fuse on the power supply board blows out.in some cases only fuse on power supply board blows out.this fuse is placed on the board for safety reasons.because in the older model printers when this short circuit problem was happening at that time whole board used to blow out.so in the new model of printer a fuse is placed on the board ,so if any overheating or any power outage or any short circuit occurs.the fuse blows out instead of whole power supply board. You just need to replace the fuse on the power supply board by disassembling the printer.the power supply board is the green color square shaped board.its the board to which your power wire of printer is connected. the fuse is available at any local electric hardware shop.its not any special kind of fuse. This will help. Thanks please keep updated. please please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

I have no piture and no sound the pwer indicator shows the tv to be on there is a red led on th power supply that is blinking does anyone know what migt be the proble

I have the same television and the power supply was bad, I had no lights on the front at all so I tried replacing the capacitors on the power supply thinking that would fix it. That did not fix it and I was told that not only do the capacitors go bad but sometimes something else on the power supply board goes bad and is very hard to diagnose without the proper training, so i bought a new power supply board. I put the power supply in and I then had all the lights on the front but the red led light on the power supply was blinking and the lcd would just show the polaroid picture on the screen and would try to light the back lighting but would immediately turn off.
I took a blow dryer and slightly warmed up the 5 blue capacitors that are on the main processor board "not the power supply board". 3 of these capacitors are 470uf @ 50 volts and the other 2 capacitors are 470uf @ 25 volts. It appeared that once the warmth did it's trick, it took a few minutes after warming them, the Tv now turns on. I am going to get these five new capacitors and change them on my main processor board (not the power supply board). I am guessing that either one of these capacitors or maybe all 5 are starting to malfunction, 2 of these capacitors do appear to have a slight bulge and crease on the silver top.
Watch your screen from behind the tv when turning it on, if you see the backlight turn on for about 2 seconds when the polaroid screen appears and then turn off you may very well have the same 1-5 capacitors malfunctioning on your main processor board. With that said if you feel that the power supply board is functioning as it should be and it sounds like it is then if you do not feel comfortable changing these five blue capacitors on the main board then you could always try replacing the main processor board with a new one. I believe that www.discount-merchant.com or www.shopjimmy.com has this board. Just get the part number directly from your old board and look that number up on their website. It is heart breaking almost using process of elimination when you have to spend money buying boards to accomplish this but I can tell you this, "electronics repair just for checking it out = $100 or more and then the price of the boards so you will reach well over $200 i would think" replacing the power supply cost me $78.00 and even if i have to replace my main processor board that will cost about $60.00 so I am still only at about $138.00, a new LCD tv of this size would cost about 350.00 or more. Now this information is only good considering that you feel comfortable enough changing the circuit boards yourself, be very careful of what you touch and try to touch only the outer edges of the boards.
