I just replaced the pcb board on heater and is flashing code 82 how do i resolve this error code

According to Rheem trouble shooting, at the end of page 61, error code 82:
Error Code 82
Explanation: Gas Type Control Data Failure; Printed Circuit Board data failure. The PCB has not
been programmed, lost its programming or has failed.
5. If the unit does not operate on initial installation or after replacement of the PCB, then the
circuit board requires programming with the fuel type and altitude chip.

C8 is usually the PC board, or could be failed gas solenoid valve.
82 is gas-type-data-failure = program PCB for proper gas type, or proper altitude above sea level.

If this is new installation, Rheem-paloma might tell you to contact the installer.
If this is older tankless that worked before, then things point to failed PC board. Rheem-paloma may send you new PCB for free if unit still under warranty period for defect parts.

Rheem does not post service manuals, but will send instructions.
Hopefully the success rate for replacing your main PC control board will have better outcome than expected when replacing motherboard on your computer.
Perform regular maintenance to avoid some common error codes.

This error code will occur for two reasons:

1. The heater has lost its programming and you will need a new programming chip from Rheem. (866) 720-2076
2. The igniter module is located behind the Printed Circuit board and will need to be relocated.

In several cases i have had to change the pcb board.... code 76 is no communication between remote thermostat and pcb..... this is a problem the first generation rheems seem to be having.... contact rheem if under warranty you will need to get pcb and program chip sent to you. Really need a experienced tech to install board and program it for you...... hope this helps...

Error codes are considered start-point for troubleshooting, and give service technician direction for isolating problem.
Error 82 appears as 'gas type data failure' > 'Program PC board for proper gas type.'

Gas type is choice between LP gas and NG natural gas.
Gas type programming is controlled with dip switch setting.
I do not have service manual for product, and would not suggest changing dip switches without specific information beforehand.

Check the gas inlet pressure as I am guessing this is an LP unit. Most of these problems come from a poor installation. Gas pipe too small, gas pressure too low, not enough combustion air. The other cause of error codes is a unit plugged into an extension cord. Also, if the flue is not installed properly, condensation can come back and damage the unit.

Remove power, disconnect remote terminal. Restore power, open a hot water valve and see if you get any hot water.

I had the same problem, but when you change the PCB the chip has to be reset regardles of the elevation so it can communicate properly. The rest is easy, Find the DIP Switch located on the top left side of the PCB set switch #1 & #2 to the ON position push and hold the adjustment buttom till the display changes from flashing to illuminating the reset the DIP switch #1 & #2 to the OFF position and you are ready to go.

82 means that your programming on the board isn't correct, check for the right altitude chip and fuel type

If this is a new board and Altidude chip with power on set dip switch 1 and 2 to on. Then press and hold adjust button until on board blinks fast then and you will see dashes on LCD display. Set dip switches 1 and 2 back to off. Turn on remote unit and you should see 100F. With any luck you are good to go.
