Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.
Push on the mode gear (near by video head) with a screwdriver.

the tape door has been opened (pressed the eject button, door slip open, tape popped up just like normal) put in a different brand new tape, now the door won't close. Tried the previous tape, then with no tape, that doesn't do the trick either. Tried the battery out and back in trick, not working. Plugged power line in directly, nothing.
I also have the same problem, and suggested solution does not help.
