Dear
This model is old and may have aging defect for the friction pad and pick up roller.
You may kindly replace the above part for assurance of paper pickup. the paper is stacked vertically on the top from the back side pocket..
However the the pickup roller may be cleaned using a dampened cloth for temporary.

How to replace pickup rollers

Cassette (Tray 2) paper pickup and feed rollers

To remove the paper pickup and feed rollers

1 Remove the cassette.

2 Locate the two rollers on the bottom of the paper pickup unit (above the cassette). The pickup

roller is the smaller roller, and the feed roller is the larger roller.

3 Pinch the tab on the end of the cassette pickup roller (callout 1), and pull the roller out.

4 Pinch the tab on the end of the cassette feed roller (callout 2), and pull the roller out.

Note Always replace the cassette pickup roller and the cassette feed rollers at the same time. Also replace
the separation roller (located in the paper cassette) when replacing these rollers

Pickup roller fails to load paper sometimes from the paper tray.

Pickup rollers suffer from several possible faults- - Cheap paper can lose fibers that clog the roller reducing friction - Rollers can harden, reducing their 'stickiness' - The slightly roughened surface of the roller loses its roughness
Sometimes the roller will improve with cleaning but don't use alcohol since this will leach softeners from the roller so a mild detergent is better such as window cleaner and a fiber-free cloth; you don't want to worsen the problem. Some mfr.s (HP for one) have produced short-lived rollers that required 'roughening' pads and a small program to drive the roller for seconds to minutes to restore the minute 'fingers' to the roller. If a high-usage printer, you may have to replace the pickup roller and the labor involved varies greatly.
One 'quick and dirty' method that sometimes works is to reset the paper length to 'legal' (runs longer) and put a good quality paper sheet that has been wetted with window cleaner in the feed slot and allow the roller to rotate on that surface by holding the end of the sheet. The printer will eventually error out with a 'misfeed' that may require resetting. Allow it to dry again before trying to print.

It is the pickup roller that courses this isasue. remove yr try u will be able to find the pickup roller right at the end near the back door cover. remove it and turn the rubber. sometime this will help. or replace the pickup roller.

Paper won't feed

Cleaned the pickup roller (pull out the toner cartridge - it's the large 1" wide roller at the back) with a little 91% isopropyl alcohol ($2.50 at the drug store), The printer feeds perfectly now.
If this didn't work, then Samsung tech support suggested replacing the pickup roller assembly which is available at www.samsungparts.com ($6.95) along with a service manual ($28). But, fortunately, it wasn't necessary.
