I have had a musical cuckoo clock for many years. probably two or three times I have had to have it repaired because the minute hands gets stuck at about ten till the hour. It will not move.

The last time I had it repaired I could have purchased a new clock for what it costs. Well, the grands came over one night and wanted to see the little people dance so I would advance the minute hand. I did this many times and all of a sudden it stopped again at the ten till mark. The hand will not move. I took the hands off to see if readjusting would work. Now when I put the minute hand on and tighten the nut it will not move at all. If I slightly loosen it nothing happens. It just hangs. Why would this happen and what can I do?

Taking care of the grandkids kinda tells it all, Never a good idea, unless you like buying new ones. OR paying for the repair. Maybe its time for a lesson in patience with the grands?

SOURCE: Second hand has stopped working.

Hello
Just setup the clock once again by replacing the battery and check. If this also does not help you, the the press fitting of the second is loose. you have to open it to make it pressed firm.

To set up your clock simply install one fresh AA, LR6 ALKALINE battery. Due to the nature of long wave radio signals it is normally not possible to receive a signal during the day so it is best to install the battery late in the evening. Select your time zone by pressing one of the four time zone buttons PT-Pacific Time, MT-Mountain Time, CT-Central Time, ET-Eastern Time. The time zone buttons may be pressed any time after installing the batteries. If multiple buttons are pressed the clock will set to the time zone selected last. If no time zone is selected the clock will default to Pacific Time. Another time zone can be selected during or after the clock has set itself. Your clock can only set itself to one of the four time zones stated above. For time zones outside of PT, MT, CT or ET you must manually set the time using the Manual Time set button on the back of the movement.
When the battery is installed the second hand will advance eight seconds (two seconds per step x four steps). The clock is now searching for a signal. For the initial setting it is recommended to stand the clock in an upright position near a window. Within five minutes the clock will either receive the WWVB signal and set itself to the exact time, or it will determine that the signal is not receivable at its current location and time of day. If a signal is not receivable it will fast-forward the hands to the 4, 8, or 12 o'clock position and search for WWVB each

hour until a signal is received. If the time is manually set the clock will continue to periodically search for a signal and automatically reset the hands when the signal is received.
Select a location to place your radio controlled clock where it will be at least six feet away from a TV, computer, air conditioner or other household electrical appliances. The optimal location is near a window. Windows facing Colorado providing the best signal. The WWVB time signal will easily penetrate Masonry and wood framed buildings. WWVB will penetrate almost every residential building and most steel buildings if they have adequate windows. It is not possible, however, for WWVB to penetrate most indoor shopping malls and rooms in the center of large office buildings that do not have windows. In buildings that WWVB cannot penetrate you may set the time using the manual time set button. When the clock is exposed to the WWVB signal it will automatically set the hands to the exact time.
OK.

How do l reset the time and chime on a ETTORE 2057 Square Cuckoo Wall Clock by Diamantini Domeniconi after replacing batteries. It does not give the right number of cuckoos for the time on the face.

Wait for the cuckoos, count them, then set the hands manually to just past the hour. The clocks have one mechanism for time and another of 'actions'. They aren't linked.

Cuckoo and action doesn't work

Is this a mechanical cuckoo, or an electronic? If mechanical, probably the strike mechanism is jammed. You might barely, HEED: just barely pull on the weight a tiny bit and see if this does anything. If not, time to get it serviced. If it is an electronic cuckoo, check batteries and contacts.

How do I adjust the clock when it's running slow?

If your cuckoo runs too fast or slow, the best way to correct this problem is to set your cuckoo to an accurate watch or clock. After 24 hours, record how many minutes your cuckoo is running too fast or slow. Then adjust the bob up or down the pendulum stick to change the pendulms effective length. You'll need to take an educated guess as to the distance. Reset the cuckoo minute hand time to your watch or clock again. Repeat this process every 24 hours, recording the results, and readjusting the bob until you are within 3 minutes of the correct time. Then, switch from recording every day to recording every week. Use the same process described, recording the time difference, adjusting the bob up or down every week, until the cuckoo is accurate within approximately 3 minutes per week. Remember, mechanical cuckoo clocks are not as accurate as quartz or electric clocks! A three minute error per week is not bad. Maybe you can do better. What you are attempting to do is to obtain is the best timekeeping possible from your cuckoo clock. Afterwards, you will still need to sychronize the cuckoo (coo coo) clock minute hand to an accurate clock or watch, each week or as desired.

I have a cuckoo clock . Time is 11 and the cuckoo chimes 8 times . What do I do? It's a non mechanical clock

If the clock is chiming like this it means that the hour hand is out. GENTLY loosen the hands, place the hour hand on the hour that the clock has chimed then fasten the hands in place. Gently move the minute hand clockwise Only, and check each hour that it strikes right. If the cuckoo has a button at the back use that instead. For more information email me at [email protected]

If the error persisys, then pull off the hour hand, and replace it at the synchonized time.
