go to any howm center, plumbing section. The replacement gasket is not the same as the original, however, they do fit. The other choice is go to Kohler resaller.

SOURCE: How do I get the old toilet seat fastener bolts

On top if you look closely you will se that where the hinge is you can lift up a plastic cap and see the top of the screw. From there you can remove screw. It should be a flat head screw.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Toilet on uneven floor

I believe that I qualify... over 300 toilets installed in the past 15 months!!

I would go with the wax rings... but I would press the ring into the base of the toilet before installing the toilet....that way you are sure to have a good seal to the toilet....

If you actually read the directions, the manufacturer will tell you to press the wax ring onto the toilet....then install it onto the floor drain.
I guess that a PLAIN wax ring placed on the floor drain (since it is recessed) before placing the rubber-sleeve equipped ringed toiled is a good safety measure... I have done that an it work about 37 times out of 40.

Good question - BTW.. and well worded. THANKS for being specific and precise!!

How do I install wax ring on toilet when no holes for bottom bolts?

The wax ring gets installed on the bottom of the toilet, then the toilet gets installed over the bolts, which poke their way through the wax ring and extend through the mounting holes. This ensures a good seal around the bolts. Be sure to press down firmly on the bowl to seat the wax ring before you install the nuts.

How do I replace ring that toilet attaches to the floor

If the ring that is attached to the floor and sewer pipe is broken you can get a new ring that fits over the old one ..depending on the type of floor if wood you just screw new plastic ring over the old one be sure to line the bolt slots at the 3 oclock and 9 oclock position so you can slide the bolt head under the new ring and lines up to keep the bowl holes in exact spot. when you put the new wax ring on be sure to get one that has a built in plastic flange that goes down inside the 4 inch sewer pipe before putting plastic wax seal on be sure new ring is snug i always use a course wood screw to screw to the floor if you have concrete you will have to place ring make mark for screw holes drill masonary bit then put insert into concrete then put ring on then coarse screw good luck this should solve the issue

How to install a toilet

Things needed; set of johnnie bolts, wax ring, water supply tube, open end wrenches.
insert the flat head of the johnnie bolts into the groove of the floor flange so the threads are pointed straight up. Install the wax ring directly onto the floor flange. Set your toilet bowl down on top of the wax ring so the johnnie bolts stick up through the holes at the bottom. Install the washers and nut to secure the toilet to the floor. Depending on the type of toilet, you may or may not need to manually install the tank to bowl gasket and tank to bowl bolts. Set tank onto bowl and tighten the bolts. Usually a 1/2" wrench. Do not over tighten because the porcelain will break. Install the water supply to the bottom of the tank and then tighten it to the water shutoff valve. Install the seat, and your all set.

Caroma toilet 12years old, concealed cistern. Water leaking around base when toilet is flushed. water level maintained when not flushing, so the leak must be between the cistern and the bowl. Had a plumber...

Fixing a leaky toilet is actually rather simple, requiring few tools and just a little time and effort. In looking at Caroma toilets on Google, they appear to be just a standard type of unit, and should present few if any problems for yourself or any handyman of modest skill.

If it is leaking around the base of the toilet - where the toilet sits on the floor, the repair item is a simple wax seal. Here is a tutorial to effect this repair: Replace Toilet Wax Ring. The wax ring is very inexpensive, usually $5 to $10 USD.

If the water is leaking from between the tank (cistern) and the toilet bowl, the job is even easier, as it does not require lifting and moving the entire toilet. A good tutorial for that repair is here: How to Replace Tank to Bowl Gasket . The gaskets, new nuts, bolts and rubber seals come in a kit and also cost only $5 to $10 USD.

I am sorry to hear your Plumber insisted you buy an entire new toilet, but do remember he is in the business of making money!

If we put the wax seal into the base of the outlet connector it doesnt look like it will sit flush with the floor. Do you have a suggestion? The waste outlet hole sit on the wood floor. The floor is...

If you are installing a wax (doughnut) seal to connect the toilet to the main drain, then the wax ring should be big. It should 'squish' to seal correctly. You may not need it, but I've known plumbers to install two of the seals at once for extra gap-filling. Just install the seal, sit on the toilet to compress the seal into place and then install the bolts to the floor. Done!

Leaks at the closet flange and we tried many different wax rings.

Hello, W/D here. I always use the wax ring that has the plastic horn molded into it. Rarely, I will place another regular gasket on top of it if the closet flange sits too far above the floor or is cocked. The key to a good seal of a wax ring is to install it properly, and set it several times. What I do is tighten the bolts that bolt the toilet to the flange, and then sit on the seat, putting as much weight as I can on the bowl, and even wiggling a bit. The toilet settles, and I tighten the bolts (carefully) a bit more. I continue to do this several times until the toilet is settled well onto the closet flange and is secure. You have to take your time with this, and be very careful not to over tighten at any one time. You can break the closet flange or at worst, crack the porcelain bowl flange.
Best regards, --W/D--

Replaced our old toilet with this one and now smell coming up from septic will not go away. Did not have this problem before. What can be done to get rid of the smell?

I would suggest that you shut water supply off to your toilet ,disconnect supply line from tank and pull toilet back up. Get a new wax base seal prefreablly a double thick wax type and after cleaning outlet on your toilet reset it on new ring.. Make sure when you tighten retaining nuts that you do so evenly. What I do is carefully center toilet on ring with ring already set in drain flange with bolts in place. Set toilet down on base and push gently from side to side to get bolts thru far enough to get plastic washer and retaing washer and nut on bolts. Carefully tighten bolts going from one side to the other say three turns on each side. Tighten securely, then set on toliet faceing wall and gently rock back and forth, front to back and side to side to help set toilet base in seal. Recheck tightness of nuts and snug up a little if needed. Be careful as the base will break if you overtighten the nuts. Reattach supply ,turn on water and check out. You should be able to get a double thick wax seal at most hardware stores. Good luck. Thanks

I need to replace the wax seal on my jacuzzi perfecta toilet, do i need to order one from jacuzzi or can i use a generic one from a hardware store?

I would just use the one from hardware store. nothing special about the wax from the manufacturer except the price...

be sure to do a thurough cleaning on the bottom of the toilet and make sure it is dry before you install new wax ring or it will leak.
you can actually use a hair dryer or set it in the sun to soften the wax ring, don't melt it, just soften it. makes a much easier time when setting the toilet down onto the wax.
