How do i setup my HUAWEI E8372 when connecting it to the laptop because whenever i connect it to the laptop it requires a key amd username and i keep on getting the user name wrong.

Please can you write for me instruction on how to set it up in a point form

you must define DNS and Gateway!!! Go on My Network Places, right click, again right click on your network, select properties, TCP/IP and in there enter needed IP addresses!!!

SOURCE: laptop can see the desktop where access point is connected and yet not connect on internet

The way this should be connected is..
Modem connects to DWL-2000ap (wan port)
Peterscomp connects to DWL-2000ap via ethernet
Laptop connects to DWL-2000ap via wireless.

in order to connect to internet you require a username and password

that user name and password will be given to you durin first time installation if you dont remember the username and password call up your broad band help desk. they will help with the user name and password.

if you are aware of the user name and password ,
you need the configure the internet setup using the user name and password

i ll give the steps to configure the user name and password in windows XP operating system

1 click on "start" button at bottom left of your desktop

2 click on control panel

3 on left hand side of the window click "classical view"

4 then click on the icon network connections

5 there you will find "create new connection" or "new connection wizard"on the left hand side just double click on it

6 a new dialog ll appear click next

7 on the next screen select "connect to internet" and click on next

8 on the next screen click on "setup my connection manually" then click on next

9 on the next screen select the option "connect using a user name and password" and click next

10 you will be asked for ISP name "for eg:fill in AT&T"

11 on the next screen you willlbe asked for user name and password , fill in the respective details

for eg: sam @att.net :username
******** :password

12 den click finish

you will find an icon in the desk top by now. just double click on that icon and try browsinn

you must be up and runnin ! ! !

Here is the manual, and it states that to get into the router you use admin as the user name and password is blank. I would suggest that you reset the router. The reset button is on the back next to the power connector. Use a paper clip and push the reset button in for about 30 seconds till the lights flash. Then you should be able to log into the setup page and set it up .

I will be more than glad to assist u in this concern..the reason why page cant be displayed bcoz the router and the modem wont talk to each other.. u are connect to the router but not to the internet..this are the possible solution.. .. if you are using a cable modem from ur cable company provider- u need to do a mac clone on the router u have to clone the mac address of ur computer. normaly the mac of ur computer is the one register to your cable company and on the setup page of the router just selct on the internet setup, dhcp after clonning the mac address of your computer. u need to connect ur computer directly to the router and then after doing the process connect the router to the modem. if u are using a username and password, u have to use the pppoe settings on the router, if ur isp set a static ip , set it up to the router, to check the ip setting of your isp.. connect the computer directly to the modem and check if u have internet.. then click on start, run and type cmd,it will give u a dos prompt and from there type ipconfig/all and it will show u the ip address, subnetmask, default gateway, dns server.. I hope this will solve ur concern..

Connect the router with a power cable and switch on the poser, reset the router with its reset button normally you can find the reset button on the rear side of the router for 30 seconds and then switch off and on the power
After reset conenct the router to any laptop or desktop with a cable and also connect the router to the modem or the internet service provider cable
after all connection lights will come on go to right hand side corner of the computer and check if the network connection is showing connected
Once you are connected with a wired connection open a page of internet explorer and type in router addess normally it will be http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 and then type the username and password default usernames and passwords can be found in router manual.
Once the router setup page is open you can confugure the router easily without the CD setup.
The advantage is you do not have to run the setup CD and you can also do wirless settings for your wireless laptops or devices
Go to the wirless settings page and you can select the wireless on and off or you can setup a wireless security to avoide your router with unauthorized acess
I would recomend always keep the wireless network secured if you are using the router for a home or small office as there can be people who will be using your bandwidth for free without your permission
one more tip i would like to give whenever any kind of setup is required on the router do it by a wired connection only and not thought a wireless pc or laptop as it can disconnect you from the router in between of your setup

Connect the device to your laptop or computer via USB cable or WiFi connection.
Launch a web browser and in the address bar, enter 192.168.1.1, then click the arrow icon or press Enter.
Click Settings.
Enter the required username and password, then click Log In.
Note: The default username and password is admin.
Click the WLAN dropdown.
Click WLAN Basic Settings.
Click the SSID field, then enter the desired device name.
Click the Security mode dropdown and select desired security (e.g. WPA2-PSK)
Click the WPA pre-shared key field, then enter the required password.
Click Apply.

The device name and password have been changed.

Seems you forgot everything.
1. You could try the default username : admin with password : admin or username : user with password : user
2. if those not working you can reset your ADSL modem to the factory reset by push the "reset to default button" in the back panel, this will bring your modem to the very first time condition. Use the method 1 to login.

There are 2 ways to setup Netgear
1. Setup Wizard (which guides you through a setup wizard)
2. Manual Configuration (you need to put all values in router manually)

Here we are not discussing Setup Wizard as Manual configuration is far much easier then auto configuration

To configure (config) Netgear we need to get into router page
To open router config page
1. Open Internet Explorer (Start>>all prog>>Internet Explorer)
2. Type in address bar 192.168.0.1
3. In username box type admin (where it says gateway 192.168.0.1 requires username & password)
4. In password box type password (word password itself)
After this you will find Netgear ADSL Wireless Router Setup page

Here we need to select Basic Settings (as shown below)

after this you will find next page as

Here in this page (Basic Settings Page)

Does your internet connection requires login, Select Yes
Select Encapculation as PPPoE
Login is Username as provided by your ISP
Password is your password for broadband connection as provided by your ISP
Keep Idle timeout as 0

after this simply press apply without changing anything else

Now We Need to click on ADSL Settings Page

Now on ADSL Setting Page We got only 3 options

Multiplexing Method Should be LLC-Based
VPI 0
VCI 35

now just press apply again

By this time your router should be only (you can check it by opening any website on Internet Explorer or by router status option on netgear page)

To Config Wireless

Click on Wireless Option (on left hand side blue panel)

It should display next page as

Here in this page

Wireless Network Name (SSID) Alpha-Numeric name which would be displayed as your wireless network name

Region Here Select Your Region

Channel: Select whichever channel give you best sighal (9, 11, 13 are recommended)

Keep the TIck on Enable Wireless Access Point

Keep the Tick on Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)

Can Untick Wireless Isolation

Then Jump to Security Options

Select WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre Shared Key)

then in WPA-PSK Security Encryption type in anything of your own choice but alphabets and numbers both should be there and make it between 8 to 63 characters long.
WPA-PSK Security Encryption Key is your password for wireless network

Now Press Apply and your router is ready for wireless too

After doing this you can change MTU (Maximum Transmit Unit) size to 1400 from WAN Setup Option

You can find WAN Setup Option in same blue panel on left hand side of screen

Here you just need to change MTU to 1400 and need not to change any other setting

Now its all done and router is ready to send wireless signal to your system/laptop

Need a network key

Since you want to access the router setup page and get the wireelss security for your laptop you can try this:
Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.
You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is blank, and the password is admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.
When you're already on the setup page of the router youc an go to Wireless tab and click on Wireless security and there you can find the security key that you need....

If the default password didn't work you need to reset the router by pressing the reset button for 15 seconds so it will be back to its default settings with default password which is admin.

But if you successfully log in to the router page just go to the Wireless tab and there you can find all the wireless settings of your router including the wireless security key...

Yes time warner is a cable connection and they dont require a username and pasword. You can set up the router manually by accessing its set up page. By default the router's IP is 192.168.2.1. Make sure to set the wan connection type to dynamic, change the wan mac address or clone your pc's mac. Then save the settings. Check your internet connection.
