Delayed start says H2 won't stop running...please advise!

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. On Bosch dishwashers with display such as yours the 2H indicates the cycle wash time is exceeding two hours and it should not. This is typical of a heating error so the cause must be determined. The question must be asked, is it a heater, a flow switch, an NTC or the actual control ? I can also tell you most times it is the control. I am presently on my iphone and as such don't have access to my files but if you check out my profile under dishwashers you will find a detailed explaination of how the check. Look specifically for units that show "1" and run & run. You will also find a link to the Bosch website on info regarding a recall which relates directly to your model and said issue. Otherwise I will post more info for you in the AM . Regards, Macmarkus :)

Last nigh my Maytag dishwasher model # MDB7100Aww serial # 15666931YM caught fire. Luckily I heard it and was able to put the fire out before my house caught fire. Has there been a recall on this model...

Hi,

Yes, there was a product recall for your Dishwasher due to fire hazard. Please visit the following pages for further information:

https://repair.maytag.com/repair/dishwasher.jsp?siteCd=MT_EN_US

https://repair.maytag.com/repair/dish_faq.jsp?siteCd=MT_EN_US

The list includes model numbers beginning MDB7 with serial numbers ending in YM, so yours is one of the units affected.

With regard to repair / replacement / compensation, Maytag state the following:

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using these dishwashers, disconnect the electric supply by shutting off the fuse or circuit breaker controlling it and inform all users of the dishwasher about the risk of fire. Contact Maytag for either a free in-home repair, or a $75 cash back reimbursement following the purchase of a new Maytag®, Jenn-Air®, Whirlpool® or KitchenAid® dishwasher. Consumers should not return the dishwasher to the retailer where it was purchased, as retailers are not prepared to take units back.
Consumer Contact: For more information, contact Maytag Corporation at (800) 675-0535 anytime, or visit the firm's Web site at www.repair.maytag.com.

Hope this helps - I would advise phoning them on the number above to find out what your exact position is as this recall was issued in 2007. However, there should not be any time limitations on claims and this still appears to be an active recall. They have admitted the dishwashers are dangerous and thereby accepted liability.

BElectric

Whirlpool gold dishwasher is leaving a white milky film on the dishes. My old maytag cleaned fine, so water temp and pressure is not an issue.

Water is the issue.
Replace the water supply valve under the sink and water supply line to dishwasher.
Over time as you can see minerals deposit in the valve and restrict the water flow to the dishwasher.
This is especially inportant on todays water saving units.
Many people replace an old dishwasher and hate the new unit due to a white film left on dishes.

Although you may have paid for a professional installation a new shut off valve is almost never replaced even though the waterline may have been at an additional cost to you..

My dishwasher is 12 years old. We have hard water but we use a water softener. I have to rinse the dishes completely clean before I wash them. Is my dishwasher just getting old?

A couple things can be happening here.

1) Make sure the holes in you rotating arms are not clogged up with food particles. If they are clean them out so water will flow freely. Then run an empty dishwasher with a cup of white vinegar, this should clean it real good.

2) The water may not be getting hot enough. The water is heated with the element at the bottom of the dishwasher. A simple way to check this is by stopping the dishwasher at mid wash cycle and touch the water at the bottom of the tub. If it's not very hot, than the element is bad and needs replacing. Just weigh the cost of replacing the element to the cost of a new more efficient dishwasher.

Hope this helps.

hi there,
this is the sign of motor is not functioning,no circulation of water,If the dishwasher motor malfunctions, don't try to fix it yourself. Call a professional service person to make repairs or replace the motor. Before you call for service, however, you should check to make sure that the timer is working and that the motor dishwasher is receiving power.
have a nice day,regards

Not heating /lg ldf 6810 st dishwasher

Hi,
You definitely need to download the Service Manual. You can start the check program by pressing Upper Only+Time Delay+Power, but you need to know the sequence to be followed to check each component. I did this to fix my dishwasher (heater unit was deffective).
I recommend you to search the internet for the Service Manual (you can find it for download) and run the program.
Good luck !

Water standing in Dishwasher

Hello buzzy220,
If you have water remaining in the bottom of your dishwasher then I would check the following:
  1. The drain filter screen is free from food byproducts that might limit drainage.
  2. The drain line exiting the dishwasher itself.. is it kinked or clogged?
  3. If your drain line is plumbed into a garbage disposal side entry, is that clogged or your house drain clogged?
  4. Is your dishwasher pump contaminated with sediment or anything that would limit its ability to pump?
  5. Are the water lines that come into or out of the pump blocked, damaged or restricting water flow?
Those are the main reasons areas of concern to investigate.. BTW, your drain line exitting the dishwasher should be routed up high and down into your sink drain system or thru the garbage disposal tap so that you have an air gap as 20YRSEXP was inquiring about..

You can run a simple test to verify all this..
Detach your drain hose from the house drain system ( from the garbage disposer or sink drain.. then route that into a rubber barrel ( be sure to keep part of the house up around the height of the countertop when you do this.. )... You should see a fairly robust flow of drain water into it when the system functions properly.. I would encourage you to run this test with no dishes inside it,.. This test will tell you if the restriction is in the dishwasher or house drain side..
Hope this helps you..
Regards,
Rick
