Do I need a disc to install our samsung syncmaster 205 BW monitor? If so, where do I get it?

Sounds like your monitor has croaked. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend or family member just to see if it works. If it works, your monitor is bad. If the borrowed monitor has the same issues then your Video Card in the computer is bad and needs to be replaced.

Your inverter board is faulty. Repair and it might work.

TRY BYPASSING THE DOCK AND CONNECT A DVI CABLE DIRECTLY TO MONITOR. THAT WAY YOU WILL KNOW IF IN THE CONNECTION.

your power supply needs to be repaired . you have bad capacitors. very comon problem

You need to adjust the monitor refresh rate to 60 Hertz or 70 Hertz.
Use the CRT first to adjust it, then after adjust,plug in your Sync Master to see is it perfect or not,find the best frequency that work best.

To adjust it,right click on the screen,enter properties, then click setting tab.
Then in advanced tab, click it then you see the monitor tab, find the perfect screen refresh rate.

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts,replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. Have try open your monitor on screen display (OSD) and used the auto adjust settings.

same problem on my syncmaster :-(
