You need to be careful if you are trying to clean the belt soa s not to damage it. Use something like methylated sprit - or some other clean that does not have oil products in it. A good qulaity computer foam cleanser also works very well.

SOURCE: Where can I purchase a teflon spray lubricant for treadmill?

Tunturi.com or accellfitnessna.com should have the lubricant you need. Order it online and they should be able to ship it directly to your house. I service tunturi treadmills, although I haven't come across a teflon lubricated machine, it is very important with these machines you stick with the manufacturer specified lubricants.

SOURCE: I have a noisy Pro-Form Model 285T treadmill

Hey Richard Depending on the noise it could be one of several components failing. If loud clanking or clunking noises these components are Drive Motor, Front or Rear Rollers.
If it is a loud humming noise increasing and decreasing when planting yours feet then it is either the Inductor ( square object ) or the internal windings of the Drive Motor.
Unplug your unit remove the motor shroud with a long shaft flat tip screw driver you'll be able to pin point the problem with this tool.
Now locate front shaft and rear roller tension adjusting bolt ( refer to owners Manual) plug in unit, start unit and touch flat tip on the shaft and place your ear on the handle the noise will be amplified and you will be able to locate the noise repeat this procedure on the other above mentioned components if problem is not found. GOOD LUCK!

This really sounds like the results of long term use without lubrication or wax between the belt and deck. Chances are you will need to replace the running belt and the deck or flip the deck if it has not already been done. The friction builds up between the deck and belt and caused the electronic components to overheat. The machine is shutting down as a precautionary measure. It will do this only so many times before the electronics are zapped. Start with the deck and belt. Hopefully the electronics are okay. Need lubrication for proform 785 belt

Some ProForm treadmills require lubrication every six months or so, depending on the usage amount. Lift the walking belt and feel on the underside of the belt. If it is dry, you should lubricate it. ProForm recommends you use 100-percent, non-petroleum silicone spray to lubricate the walking belt. Do not use wax or other lubricants, such as WD-40 or a Teflon-based spray

Have a Precor M9.1 treadmill which cuts off after about 5 to minutes of use. It can be reset immediately and will run for another 5 to 10 minutes before cutting off again. The belt is well aligned and...

When a running belt has excessive wear, it creates a lot of friction which causes the drive motor to work harder. When the drive motor works harder it will start overheating. If the belt is not lubricated periodically, it will ruin the deck, the drive motor, and cause other electrical problems such as tripping the breaker [after a while, the circuit breaker on the treadmill will need to be replaced.
It is suggested to lubricate the belt every month. At this point, you may need to replace both your deck and your running belt.

Check your Amps on the circuit that is being tripped. The treadmill needs 15 Amps to run. If you have a 15 Amp circuit that is running the treadmill and other electronics (or lights), the circuit will trip. You may need to replace the circuit with more Amps.

SOUND LIKE A LUBRICATION ISSUE DEPENDING ON THE MANUFACTURER NOW A DAYS SYN SILICON IS USED ON MOST PHENOLIC DECKS IF NO MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN DONE I WOULD ALSO CHECK THE FOR UNEVEN SURFACE AND THE BELT MAYBE TO WORN AND THE LUBRICATE WILL NOT BE EFFECTIVE , BUT ITS CHEAPER TO TRY LUBE THAN NEW BELT AND DECK. GO TO gymparts.com part# TM001 or call them @ 1-800-496-7278
