I have the same problem. Everything is set for the machine to sew a buttonhole. But unless I'm holding the buttonhole lever toward me, the machine won't start. And even as I'm holding it, the buttonholes don't come out finished. One side is full length and the other only goes up about halfway. I havent even had this machine a month.
You have created button holes with this machine before or first time?
I take that it ran the first stage, straight stitches, and stopped? If yes, its indicating it ran this first stitch series and determined there was no activation of the reversing lever. So it's advising what it believes are the actions necessary to correct the problem.
So it needs to be determined whether the lever is engaging or not engaging the button hole foot.
Suggest you try again and watch specifically how the button hole foot engages the reversing lever. May be a clue there as to why it has determined reverse lever not activated.
the buttonhole foot snaps on to the presser bar, there's a little lever at the back of the presser bar that releases the foot, then put the buttonhole foot down on the needle plate & use the presser foot lifter (number 11) to lower the presser bar down onto the buttonhole foot & you'll hear a click sound when it snaps on & make sure to use the buttonhole lever(number 31) because the machine won't sew a buttonhole unless that lever is pulled down.
SOURCE: the machine says the presser foot is not down and it is so it won't sew
it could be a problem with the motherboard, the sewing machine needs to be checked
if the sewing machine is set on the buttonhole setting then it's
possible that the sewing machine motherboard has a problem.
or a part could be damaged, the machine may need some type
of adjustment.
