Hi there, At some point during the process you copy of windows came corrupt- could be a result of improper updating, and sometime it windows itself. I forget which os but I remember this happening with an update- anyway if you keep getting the screen of ***** you need to reinstall windows from a flash drive or cd or whatever means you have to install it. It is also possible that you may need a new hard drive. Keep in mind that with many updates of many devices it usually accesses the memory to write the updated information to and if it looses power during the process it could damage the drive. Reinstall windows and be ready to buy a new drive. You can download windows 10 for free any other i think you need a key code to download. good luck

SOURCE: DELL MASTER RESET?????

When booting up to Win XP you may get a error that reads "Unmountable Boot Volume". This is probably because your boot.ini file is messed up.

You should be able to restore your windows installation.

SOURCE: computer was working earlier, turned off unit - later tried to turn it on but it won't work

first if u have an ups disconnect the system from that and test the system directly from mains,

If not u disconnect the powerswitch  from the m/b and direct short the pins in m/b.

2. even it is not working u check the system with another SMPS

Was this helpful to u pl give the rating

SOURCE: My computer keeps restarting itself

What operating system are you using? Windows XP? What was the last thing installed? IE7 or regular Windows updates. Assuming Windows 2000 or higher, press F8 every couple of seconds during the initial boot process. Select "Safe Mode". Once at the desktop you have a couple of options depending on your configuration. Attempt "Start", "Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools", "System Restore". Following the prompts, choose the latest date in bold prior to the lastest installed software. If system restore is off, choose "Start", "Control Panel", "Add / Remove Software", remove IE7 or latest installed software.

Login screen on my hp touchsmart 15 laptop keeps flashing after trying to login

I just managed to fix this on my machine (Windows 7 Professional 64-bit), when all the other fixes out there (editing registry to enable auto-login, Startup Repair, System Restore, etc.) failed! Solution came from here.
  1. Upon starting up your computer, enter Advanced Boot Options by hitting F8 repeatedly before you get the "Starting Windows" screen.
  2. Go to "Repair my computer".
  3. Wait for it to ask you to enter your credentials, and do so.
  4. System Recovery Options list will come up. The last option should be to open Command Prompt - do this now.
  5. Type the following (where X: refers to the drive that your Windows updates should be installed to - this is usually C:, but mine is D:):X: dism /image:X:\ /remove-package /packagename:Package_for_KB3097877~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1 /scratchdir:X:\temp
  6. It should now remove the update. Once it tells you that the removal has reached 100%, close the prompt and restart your computer.
  7. Wait for it to run through the usual boot-up routine - at the end, you should have no flashing screen anymore, and get the login prompt!
After this, you'll want to go into Control Panel>Windows Update and change your update settings to prevent it from reinstalling update KB3097877, at least until Microsoft comes out with a fix. You may need to check for updates manually to get it to detect it again.
EDIT: A number of people have been replying to me, asking for solutions because parts of this guide didn't work for them. I really do understand that you're frustrated, but I don't have the knowledge to help you, sorry. I just followed a guide that I found online, and which worked, and decided to share that solution with you all because I hoped it'd help others who had no luck with the more common solutions to this problem.

The pc starts and loads. Then the blue windows xp screen comes up and it wont do anything else exept let me move my mouse pointer around the screen

Restart your computer and then press and hold F8 keys until you get Advanced Options menu screen.Use the arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, and then press Enter, your computer will boot automatically to safe mode.
If you able to start in the safe mode then you need to update all your drivers and install all windows updates from Windows update and scan your computer for viruses! And I also suggest you to run CMD as administrator and write in CMD without quotes"sfc/scannow"
this will fix blue screen error.
If problem still exists, then get the reliable program like PC Fresher to fix your annoying blue screen problem.

Inspiron 1720 reboots randomly. tried reseating ram and cant find solution. the reboot happens usually when i try to use programs and just shuts down and restarts like nothing happened. help is very...

most likely related to the blue screen issues. a possible reinstall of the OS may be needed. To check if it is blue screen related, restart the computer, press F8 when system restarts, then select the option to disable auto-restart option on the advanced options menu and press Enter. Next time you use the system, see if it will still auto-restart or if you'll get a blue screen. If there is an error, a system rstore or OS repair or reinstall may also be needed.
