Located close the motherboard top edge, left side. Yellowish 4-socket hole square connector.

2) D - CPU Fan Connector,
The Processor fan connector is white in color, 3-pin, and above the processor socket.

3) F - Main Power Connector,
The 24-pin ATX main power cable connector on the motherboard, is to the Right of the Ram Memory slots

4) N - Front Audio Connector, (Front Panel audio ports)
Red in color, 9-pin header, and is located below the white No.2 PCI slot, at the bottom of the motherboard.

5) P - System Fan Connector, (System Fan = Computer case fan)
White in color, 3-pin header, located below the No.2 PCI slot, at the bottom of the motherboard.

6) Q - IEEE 1394 Connector,
For the front panel Firewire (1394) ports.
Black in color, 9-pin header, located at the bottom right corner, of the white No.2 PCI slot

7) R - USB Connectors, ( Front Panel USB ports )
F_USB 1 through F_USB4.

IEEE 1394 card will not install in windows XP SP3. There are no drivers available from the company.

Tough One... But I did manage to find where they went; it seems you need to be a member, for additional information. As a registered user of PPA International, you should be able to request a link for the driver. Give it a try, register for the newsgroup e-mail and then use the 'contact us' feature to request the location and or link to the archived driver, it never hurts to ask..

How can I get Windows 7 Movie Maker to recognise input from my Sony DCR TRV18E Handycam?

On page 230 of the user manual, it describes how to transfer movies from the camera to a computer using an i.Link (IEEE 1394) cable. You will need the 4 pin i.Link cable and an IEEE 1394 connector on your computer in order to do this. You cannot use the USB cable to transfer the video from this camcorder -- you can only transfer still images using the USB cable.
You will have to buy this i.Link cable and (if you don't have a IEEE 1394 port on your computer) a IEEE 1394 adapter card for you desktop computer. If your laptop computer doesn't have a IEEE 1394 adapter, then you're pretty much out of luck.
Once you have the i.Link and 1394 issues resolved, then Movie Maker should then recognize the camera.

Hi i have a jvc grd250u mini video camera

Try googling IEEE 1394 and accessing the Wikipedia site. It shows a picture of both. The 6 pin is decidedly larger and of a different shape.

Yes, the brandnames Firewire (Apple) and iLink (Sony) are both IEEE 1394 interfaces.
Your cam should require a 4-pin to a 6-pin, both IEEE 1394. Hope this helps.

MY IEEE 1394 port does not recognise camcoder

Although this post is rather old, I can tell you that the mini 4-pin firewire port is the bane of my existence. The 6-pin port is made rather sturdy with heavily shielded cable. The 4-pin uses the same heavy cable, but does not have the strength to support the cable, if it happens to droop. This causes pins to get slightly bent out of alignment, and upon re-insertion, you can get crushed pins if you are not VERY careful. Examine both your cable end and the port on your camera/deck - you will probably find one or more of the pins have been pushed back. Pray that it's the cable that's dead, and not the port in your camera/deck. I have a Canon XL1 and a Sony DSR-40 with the same problem - crushed pin in the unit's port. I'll have to spend $$$ to get these ports replaced.

Capture video not responding - driver issue

Are you using the USB cable that came with the camcorder? If so, then don't use it, because it doesn't work for loading from mini DV tapes to other devices. Instead, buy a IEEE 1394 "FireWire" cable (whether 4/6/ pin, whatever you need)in order to pass the videos from the camara to the computer. note: DO NOT buy a cable that has a USB on one side and a IEEE 1394 on the other side, thus it doesn't work. You must buy a cable that has both IEEE 1394 ports on both sides.
