Either the charger is bad or most probable is the battery is bad.

SOURCE: Can a lithium ion battery be overcharged?

Here's a small FAQ I found: 1) My lithium ion battery is the SONY NP-FP70 Battery Pack. Does the fact that the battery is called a battery pack mean that it has built in circuitry to prevent an overcharge? No. I write with some authority since I've dissected too many and there is no such circuit in the battery. From a system perspective it doesn't belong there. 2) Is there any way of knowing if my SONY BC-TRP charger has the circuitry for preventing an overcharge? You'll have to ask, but the key clues are: a. The documention tells you to not leave it plugged in overnight. b. The battery gets too hot and melts the plastic. 3) If I charge my battery in my camcorder (SONY DCR-HC40), can I assume it has the built in circuitry to prevent an overcharge? a. One can't assume anything. b. But from what I read on that model, you plug it in and forget about it. To do that, it would have a proper charge circuit.

SOURCE: Batter won't hold it's charge if left in the camera overnight

Apparently you shouldn't leave the battery in the camera when you're not using it - the on/off switch doesn't turn the thing off completely. Weird!

SOURCE: Acer 5315 Battery cHarging Problems

All rechargeable batteries have a limited life, and as they age their charge capacity reduces over time and you get shorter and shorter time between charges.
Recharage batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and batteries over 2 years old are considered nearly worn out. Worn out batteries won't charge up at all.

SOURCE: battery drains quickly. Loses charge when plugged

Sounds like you need a battery. The key here is that the battery is losing charge while it is supposed to be charging. Works like a car battery, even if the alternator is working 100%, if the battery is pooched, the car won't start.

I have a Vector VEC1095A. Can't get the Battery Type to change to the type battery being charged.

Hi Billy. That is a very nice unit. Here is a link to the operator manual for it:
http://documents.dewalt.com/documents/English/Instruction%20Manual/Vector/VEC1095A.pdf

I would suggest that you unplug the charger completely and try again. If no go, try again with another battery. If that doesn't work then it sounds like the charger has malfunctioned. Is it still under warranty? If it won't change types, you can get an idea of how it is charging by monitoring the voltage as it charges up a known good battery.

Good luck!

How do I change the battery?

There are two ways to charge the battery on this model spotlight. However, if you do not have the wall charger or cigarette lighter plug you will need to contact Black & Decker to see if they have replacement parts. In March, 2006, Black & Decker purchased Vector Products, Inc. Since the acquisition, Black & Decker has assumed the manufacturing of all Vector products. For customer service and warranty information for Vector products, please contact Black & Decker Customer Service.

New, never used. Bulb appears OK. Plugged it in

The battery is replaceable, I would first take the old battery out first and test it to make sure it is charged at 12 volts before I replace it. If it is less than 12 volts than I would look at replacing it. You can order a new one from Black and Decker. They bought vector in 2006. You will need the model #, here is the link;

My Vector Vec157 Flashlight won't Charge...

It is the battery, I have a similiar Vector light for a few years and tried re-charging the battery but only the little LED light would come on. I have another Vector light, same model and switched batteries from the worjking one to the non-working one and now it works fine.

I then proceeded to purchase a new battery for the non'working one and when I arrived home I installed it and turned on the main light, still won't turn on, I tried the LED's, they work. I figured maybe the new battery needs a good charge so I plugged the charger in and charged the light for 12 hours, still no main light.

I guess the new battery is defective, so now I will return it and exchange it for another one.
