Often times you can take an amp to a repair shop and they will open it up to see if a simple fix can be done. I have an American made Orion amp to and paid $40 when all the mini fuse holders broke. The repair shop just made one big fuse. It still works great. An amp with such high quality as Orion can usually be fixed.

SOURCE: Problem w/ Orion HCCA - D5000 Amplifier

Try checking the wiring configuration from your sub to the amp, if the resistance is too low it can cause to go into protection mode or the amp is damaged and you will have to get it service

Possibly a shorted output transistor. If it was the power supply you would be blowing fuses, which I assume you aren't.

SOURCE: i have a d5000 amp and its wired up to a 15.2 hcca

make sure you have the frequency cuts right. if ur giving the sub anything lower then 30hz (assuming ur using 15's) the amp will cut out to protect the woofers from overload

My orion d5000 cuts out at high voloume for a few seconds then comes back on ????? why

Hello m3_sam,

You did not say what you have the amp wired to and what impedance. Since the amp produces more power at a lower impedance, it does make a difference.

At 4 ohms, the HCCA-D5000 delivers 1000 watts RMS. The higher the volume, the more the amp needs to draw from the battery.

Assuming everything is installed according to specifications, especially the dual 4AWG power and ground connections, it's likely that your vehicle battery/alternator is simpy not able to keep up with the current demand of the amp at high volume. You should probably consider upgrading your vehicle alternator and/or battery. In addition, consider a "Big Three" upgrade. This involves replacing or supplementing the battery positive, vehicle negative, and alternator cables to ones of larger gauge that will allow more current flow. Installation of a capacitor could possible solve the problem, but with the current demands of your amp, I wouldn't count on it.

Hope this helps.

Amplifier does not work

remove the speaker wires and re-test. If the amplifier powers on, without fault, you know the sub(s) and/or wiring are the culprit. If the power and ground are ok, take the amplifier in for service. The indicators are there to let you know of a problem. If it is an internal one, a certified tech will be required.
