Connect your computer directly to the Internet modem and make sure that you have Internet access directly from the modem.
If that is working properly then connect the modem to the Internet port on the router. Connect the computer to port 1 on the router.
Reset the router and configure it manually.
That is connect. You will need to connect the router to the modem with the Ethernet cable.
First connect the computer to the modem with the Ethernet cable. Make sure that you can access Internet without router.
Connect the computer to the Ethernet port 1 and modem to the Internet port on Linksys router. Open the setup page of the router. Change the Internet connection settings according to the Internet service provider. Create a wireless network and then connect your computer and other devices to the wireless network.
Connect the cable from the LAN port on the DSL modem to any of the 4- LAN ports on the Linksys Swicth (not the port Labelled Internet), then from any of the remaining 4 ports then connect your computer. Also try using a cross-over cable to modem from the DSL LAN port to the Linksys.
It does not have to be port 24 to port 24 - You just need to make sure that whatever port you use is configured the same way as port 24 - Example: Log into switch #2 and set port 23 with the same attributes as port 24. Also log into you new switch and make sure port 23 (or 24) is configured the same as those on switch #2. You can the cleanly go from switch #1 - port 24 to switch #2 - port 23 AND switch #2 port 24 to switch #3 port 23 - If you also configure switch #3 port 24 like the others you'll be ready for any additional expansion
