My Hotpoint fridgefreezer is freezing way below the recommended temp what cqn I do??

I believe that a short circuit creates a defective light bulb inside the refrigerator or some other element in its circuit (door switch, lamp socket, wiring).

it could be that your fridge,freezer setting is not turned up high enough to keep the freezer cold enough.turn it up to setting number 5 at least and if that dont do it u could have a faulty thermostat.have it checked by a engineer.

put a couple boxes of baking soda in it .That will absorb the odor

We had a problem with ours, try setting the temp dial to off and then hold the super freez button for 5 secs, you should hear a bleep and hopefully all should be well.

Sounds like the fan is hitting something.The fan comes on when the compressor does

my freezer defrosted it self and the red tryangle light stays on what is it

check the engine and freon/ cooler....

red light flashing means temp. is too high (not freezing) just an indicator to let you know that there is a problem
let me know: the freezer temp. (use a temp. reader)
any unusal ice build up on the back freezer panel?
is the freezer fan running?
compressor running?
parital frozen foods?

If your talking fahrenheit, that is well within it's limitations.
Why would you want it any colder. -5 is fine. 0 to 4 is considered normal.
R134A runs at -15 degrees. It is considered normal for the box (any box) to run 10 degrees higher than the refrigerant.
When R12 (freon) was used it ran at -21 degrees, and could maintain a box at -10, but those days are long gone.

defrost carefully with a hairdryer taking care not to blow hot air on thermostats mounted on the pipework. this can take some time and don't use a knife to scrape ice off - use a plastic or wood spatula. appliance will still work for some time - week or two
to identify the fault is more difficult and you will need a multimeter. check continuity thro the defrost heater and the thermal fuse in series with the heater. check continuity thro any thermostats mounted on the pipework.. if these are all ok, then it points to a fault with the timer or main module
