HP d530 Audio Problem

I did a new installation of Win XP. The audio was not recognized. I had to install Soundmax. Then the audio was recognized. When I put in my stereo jack of my loudspekers I don't hear anything. When I put in only the first 2 rings of the stereojach into the line input, the sound is coming out the speaker inside the PC.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

I downloaded the driver from the HP site. It came with Soundmax software. They suggest to use a mini jack-converter stereo-mono or vice versa, it's not very clear for me. I don't know if the output is mono, my speakers are stereo that's sure.

Then they suggest to modify the settings of the audio device, but this is not possible. The knob is grayed out.

Same Audio problem. I installed the D530 motherboard and audio driver soundmax was loaded. No audio from speakers, but when I half plug the mini audio jack in, sound comes from the onboard speaker.

Check to see if you do have the right driver installed.
Hook every thing in from the back of the computer, try the front if any. it may be recognized but is the wrong driver.

You could go and get your own sound card and put it in it.

I can't find a soundmax Integrated Audio driver for Win7 Ultimate OS. I would like to have one before I upgrade my Win XP to Win7 since it was the recommendation of Win7 compatibility Advisor. Thanks...

First, shame on Microsoft! Second, many are having the same issue you are now experiencing. What has worked is installing the Vista driver package.

Click on the link below and download the file.
Go to device manager and uninstall the current driver for Soundmax Intergrated Audio soundcard.
Double click on the downloaded program to install your soundcard driver.
If the program has issues installing the driver (due to incompatibility with Windows 7) go back to the device manager and right-click on the Soundmax Integrated Audio soudcard
Select Update driver
When searching for the updated driver, direct the search (or select manual search) to the folder the file created when you double clicked on it (swsetup>Sp36530>i386>Vista)
This should enable your soundcard.

Best of luck!

Greg
