Try disconnecting the line at the carb. Then carefully blow back to the tank. It may have something blocking the outet from the tank. If that doesn't do the trick, the float may be stuck and not allowing the needle to open for fuel to enter the carb bowl. Good luck...Lee

Mantis tiller won't start after installing new fuel bulb

Troubleshooting:

Airlock in the fuel system: If the fuel bulb is not primed correctly, it can cause an airlock in the fuel system, which can prevent the engine from starting. Try priming the fuel bulb again and see if it helps.

Clogged carburetor: A clogged carburetor can also prevent the engine from starting. You can try cleaning the carburetor with a carburetor cleaner.

Faulty spark plug: A faulty spark plug can also cause starting problems. Check the spark plug and replace it if necessary.

Fuel quality: Poor quality fuel can also cause starting problems. Make sure you are using fresh, clean fuel.

Cub Cadet RT65 tiller wont start

If plug is wet then likely it's flooded. A flooded engine won't fire even with starter fluid.

If plug is dry then more likely compression. Place finger over spark plug hole and pull start rope. Compression should forcibly push your finger with Pfffft sound. If little or no compression then possibly a stuck valve or valve adjustment is needed.

How do I fix a mantis tiller that wont start

First, check your fuel lines to ensure they are not brittle from using gas with ethanol. I had to replace my fuel lines last spring.

Prime the carb and pull a couple of times. Pull the spark plug and see if it is wet or damp. Dry and clean the plug. If you have some starting fluid, give it a shot - replace the plug and wire, and give it a pull.

I've got a little southland tiller and the thing

Remove the air cleaner and spray carb cleaner into the throat of the carb then try to start. If it starts right up for a second then its a fuel problem and the carb will need to be rebuilt, also check the fuel lines and filter. If it wont run for a second on the prime then you have an ignition or compression problem.

Will not start

when you push the gas bubble make sure you see gas filling the two gas tubes. If not, pull the tube out of the gas tank and check the tube filter screen to see if its clogged. Also check the side filter to see if its clean. If you pulled the starter cord too much the carb could be over flooded. You can spray some starter fluid in the carb and see if it will start that way. If this is the first start of the year sometimes it needs a boost with the starting fluid.

Mantis starts fine then when it warms up it stalls when you pull the throttle. Is it the carb clogged up, or do you have any sugestions?? I have replaced the gas and oil??

hello. the carb is partially clogged. do this. get a bottle of carb cleaner to add to the fuel. follow the instructions on the bottle regarding the amount.

also get an aerosol can of starting fluid and a helper. start it up and have the helper spray starter fluid into the air intake as you pull the throttle. continue until the clog is cleared. joe

Mtd yard machine snowthrower not starting, doesn't sound even like it is firing, new gas, new plug, oil is full, emptied gas tank and ran dry before storing last year, blizzard tonight, help!

First spray a prime down the throat of the carb with the choke in the run position and attempt to start. If the motor hits and runs for a second then its a fuel related issue and you will need to remove and clean the carb. If it wont run or try to run on a prime then it may be an ignition issue. check for spark. If no spark then remove the ground wire from the module and check for spark again. If still no spark suspect the module, if spark with ground wire removed then wiring or switch is the culprit.

And make sure you dont over look little things like... does it have a fuel shut off valve and is it open? Is there a safety key and is it in -place? etc.
