I have the older model which has the 3 bolt ignition coil. If I replace the coil, does the new ignition coil have to be 3 bolt as well? the 3 bolt replacement coils are so much more expensive

Coils are usually engine specific, the number of bolts does not determine whether or not it will work. If you really want your chainsaw to work correctly - buy the right part. It's a cheaper than a new one! Using the model number you supplied, I found them for under $50, which is about the value of an old 050 Stihl -wow, that's a heavy old saw. If you are still (Stihl ;^ )) not sure, call a Stihl repair facility. There may be an old timer mechanic who knows.

Grease lubricant bearing on a stihl br600

What bearing are you wanting to grease?? The only bearings it has are 2 crank bearings and you don't grease them.?!

Here's the parts manual, so you can check.

Will a 090 carb fit a 051av

doesn't look like they will fit. Those saws are larger so require more fuel and would mot likely flood out the 051

Stihl 066 does not start. Replaced ignition module. Weak or no spark.

Are the poles on your flywheel blue? Are you using an open-air inline spark tester, or holding the plug against the cylinder and turning it over?

Oil pump on 020 stihl

Remove the side casing, then remove the spark plug and use a piston block to stop the piston rising while you remobe the clutch, once the clutch is off, the drum, bearing and oil work should be removable, along with the 2 plastic crank coveres. Once all this has been taken off you will have access to the oil pump.

How can chain oil get into firing chamber on a 051 stihl chain saw after it sits a few days otherwise it runs fine. The gasket between oil tank and crankcase is not broken.

I suspect your Stihl 051 has an impulse (pressure/vacuum line from crankcase) driven oiler or a pressurized tank with a duck valve on the end. The valve or the oiler is leaking and allowing oil to back flow into the crankcase. Stihl does not allow IPLs on the Internet or I could be more helpful.
You can go get help including an IPL here:
