The Sewing Machine is a Pfaff 6122 Jeans and Satin, can you give me a year the machine may have been manufactured? Thank you
SOURCE: Pfaff 6122 Problem
Your machine just needs to be tuned up an the part inside that lower and raises the presser foot needs to be re-lubricated. Lint, dust, dryness and the machine not being used can cause this issue with most pfaff machines (including my 7570). A standard tune up from your local PFAFF dealer will remedy this.

There are two parts to the sew hook on that machine. The outer part has the hook point that grabs the thread off the needle. Then there is an inner part which has a post in the center of it that the bobbin case fits on to. The inner part should be held in place with an arm that has a bump on it. It keeps the inner part from spinning around. Sometimes this arm slips loose and a notch in the inner part of the hook assembly slips out from under the knob on the arm. If this is what is happening, you need to loosen the screw holding the arm in place and reposition the notch of the inner part of the hook back under the bump on the arm. There needs to be clearance between the notch and the bump for the thread to pass between the two. And the bump should be in line with the needle when it is in its lowest position.
If this doesn't solve the problem you need to take the machine in for repair.

SOURCE: how do you adjust timing on pfaff 138 sewing machine
Take the foot off the machine
Remove the needle plate
Remove the feed dogs
rotate by hand until the needle is at the lowest position
continue rotating until the needle rises 2 mm
the hook assembly should be passing exactly by the scarf of the needle
if not loosen the two screws that secure the the hook assembly and rotate the hook assembly by hand until it is exactly at the scarf of the needle and the distance between the hook and the scarf is .1 mm (almost touching the needle)
tightened the two screws, replace the feed dogs and foot and it should sew perfectly
