Kenmore 4904 Washing Machine. I was given a washer from a friend, but I was told the washer needs the bearings replaced. Is there anywhere I can find on how this can be done and what parts are needed?

SOURCE: replacing a coupling, motor and isolation (3 piece part) on a kenmore washing machine

you have to remove the case off the unit , remove the pump retaining clips, the motor, and IF THE MOTOR HAS A CAPASITOR ON THE RIGHT SIDE WITH 2 RED WIRES CONNECTED TO IT USE AN INSULATED SCREWDRIVER TO SHORT OUT THE 2 THERMINALS ON THE CAPASITOR TO DISCHARGE IT IF YOU DONT SHORT OUT THE CAPASITOR IT COULD IN SOME CASES BE A DEADLY SHOCK, REMOVE THE WIRING CONNECTOR FROM THE MOTOR remove the motor retaining clips and the coupling is right in frount of where you removed the motor just be safe at all costs

SOURCE: BOSCH WASHER REPLACEMENT PART

I have the same problem. Bosch no longer stocks the replacement for my particular washer which has the same model no but could be a different fd #. I now have the wrong part as directed by bosch which doesnt have the hose connection. I am not sure what to do with the hose leading to nowhere. Bosch is living off of an undeserved good reputation.

In the present, the reputation is not deserved. Bosch products should only be recommended to enemies. The company and the especially the customer service is beyond deplorable. I hate these appliances. I feel ripped off! The part by the way, which is wrong, is 100.00 with tax.

SOURCE: Need wheel bearing replacement

unfortunately your bearing assembly is a sealed unit and you have to purchase it as a complete part. they do have a way to change out the bearing at a shop, however the labor cost involved would most certainly be alot more than a replacement it's self. I have come across this problem many times and it's not as easy to switch them out as you have been told. i hope this helps. (note) to repalce them on your vehicle if you don't do the work yourself have a small shop do it not a dealer shop. the cost will be alot less. the labor time should be no more than 2 hrs. that is roughly about no more than 120- 150 dollars for the labor . if the place you take it to quotes you way more than that take it somewhere else... good luck please rate this

SOURCE: how to remove top from kenmore washer

First of all, unplug your washer. You will need to remove the console in order to get to the lid switch. The washer may have release tabs under the console at each front corner. Simply slide a putty knife straight in from the front at each corner and push in while lifting up. You should feel the release tabs push in and the console will pop up. If not equipped with this type of console, you may have a console that has removable end caps. They can be removed by gently prying up on the top of them from the rear on each side. You may have to use a small screwdriver for this. The caps should pop right off. Once removed, you will need to loosen a screw under each cap. Once you have the console loosened, carefully lift it up and lay it back over the rear panel of the washer in its resting position. Be careful not to damage the small plastic hinges that hold it in place. Now you will need to perform the following steps:

1. Under the console you will find the lid switch connector. Unplug the switch from the connector.

2. There will be two brass colored clips. You will need to remove these to remove the machine casing. Place a flat blade screwdriver straight down into the opening on top of the washer and into the groove of the clip. Push the screwdriver away from you while holding into the groove and the clip will release.

3. Open the lid of the washer and place your hand under the front rim of the opening (DO NOT grab the wash tub). Now pull the case from the frame by lifting from the back first.

You do not have to remove it all the way from the frame, just enough to gain access to the switch. All there is to the switch is a couple of screws holding it in and a ground wire. It's a pretty easy repair job. Some models will have the switch located on the right-hand side of the lid rim opening, while other models will have the switch located on the left-hand side near the lid hinge.

Once you've completed your switch installation, make sure you get the case back on the frame correctly by following these steps:

1. While looking down through the lid opening, place the front lip of the machine case UNDER the washer frame and start leaning it back onto the frame. There are four small cleats that must fit into four slots on the case or the washer will vibrate. Make sure the frame is seated properly, lean forward from the front of the washer, grasp both sides of the rear panel and pull towards the case. The rear panel should be seated and flush with the casing before inserting the retaining clips.

2. Insert the brass-colored clips into the slot on the washer rear panel first, and then push straight down into the opening on the top of the washer with some force. If you have the case seated correctly, the clips will snap back in.

3. Make sure you plug the connector from the console back into the lid switch receptacle BEFORE you reassemble the console. This is easy to forget.

We have a 2012 Kenmore front load washer. Model 4904. On a normal cycle it will stall out with 2 minutes left in the cycle. The only cycle that it will completely finish is on delicate.

There could be several reasons why this is happening. One possibility is that the timer or water line valve is faulty, which is causing the washer to stop mid-cycle. Another possibility is that the lid switch assembly has malfunctioned, which prevents the washer from spinning when the lid is open . I would recommend checking these components and their connections to see if they are functioning correctly. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, it's best to contact a professional appliance repairman to diagnose and fix the issue

Our front loading Kenmore MODEL 41742042100.has begun sounding like a jet enjine when it is spinning, someone told me that it is probably bad bearings, is it worth having this 7yr old machine repaired or...

Hi.

I

f you get a very loud noise coming from the machine, and this noise islouder when it spins faster, then it is often because of a problem with the drum bearing.

The drum bearing is bad, probably drum bearing spider had broken.

On a front load the drum bearing is located at the back of the drum.

To replace the part you take apart machine, undo the belt and depending on the model you may need to remove more parts.

You can find parts and diagrams for most models here.

Washing machine

I was told by 3 technicians that my washer had shot bearings and this is a common problem for the Kenmore Elite Front loader.

Sears knows it and it costs $800 to replace the unit with the bearings. They will not do anything about it except try to sell you a new washer.

I will not buy this washer again (especially from Sears).
