You have faulty transmission or/and clutch.
Clutch is on the bottom of the transmission , next to the pully.

SOURCE: Hoover washing machine not spinning

Possible your outlet filter is blocked, check this out first, then your outlet pump, and clean it; refer to your manual.

SOURCE: Washer spins but not enough to extract water from clothes or tub.

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

Hoover 500M0AUS stops very frequently due to off-balance

Hi there.I'm guessing you changed the (Spin Brake Solenoid) underneath,it attaches to the brake arm,the solenoid retracts with a normal loud clunk & pulls the brake arm away..I think what is happening is the clutch spring inside that white plastic cog is not binding like it's supposed to & it's not taking the drum with it.so the agitator is spinning independantly without the drum.the clutch spring tightens in one direction for spin & loosens in the other direction for wash.either way i think your problem is in that plastic cog & clutch spring, the spring is inside that cog & hard to see.it can be repaired if your up to pulling the entire gearbox out to get to it.I hope this was helpful,it's kind of hard to explain by this method.cheers Chris

My washer''s agitator spins but not the drum during spin cycle.

If you see the agitator moving, but not the tub..I guess, you have a defective transmission..this is tough without knowing a little more info.

Tub rotates CW during agitation, out of balance, hits side of metal cabinet, but no error code

Hello srcoray,

Did you replace the clutch, just trying to get a feel for your hands on experience with the machine? If you did the work did your machine use the upper roller clutch bearing along with the clutch pulley mounted roller clutch bearing?

The FAV6800AW uses a reversing motor and motor controller that powers the motor and clutch pulley to rotate CW in Wash/Agitate cycle and CCW in Spin Cycle.

In Wash/Agitate cycle the roller clutch bearing should rotate freely CW allowing the agitator shaft to drive the transmission in wash cycle driving the tumblers to rotate only not the wash basket. In spin cycle the roller clutch bearing will lock up (one-way roller clutch bearing) driving the spinner shaft to rotate the wash basket and transmission CCW. Unless my thinking is wrong it sounds like the one way roller clutch bearing is frozen or dragging and not rotating freely in wash cycle rotating the wash basket CW. I’m an owner like you and will try to help.

Just a few other questions;

If you have a load of wet clothes in the wash basket and you select Spin Only cycle will the spin cycle complete with out dc/UC errors?

With the lid raised can you rotate the wash basket CW? It should not; it should only rotate CCW and do that with very little resistance.

Agitator spins in one direction

The purpose of the upper portion of the agitator is to push the clothes in a downward motion. As the agitator moves the dogs grab and on the backward srtroke the top portion rotates a quarter turn. In the spin mose the agitator only goes in one direction or your clothes would be torn to shreads. As the washer rotates back and forth, the dogs grab the inner walls of the upper agitator and that forces the clothes into a downward movement to the bottom of the tub. These dogs will wear out. To test whether or not these are bad just grab the agitator while in wash mode. The dogs should advance the top portion easily. If not then they are worn out. To replace them you must remove the agitator and sit it on the floor. Hold the base down with your feet and yank the top upwards. After seperating the 2 pieces you simply install the new dogs and line up the bottom with the top being careful not to break the little tabs on the bottom agitator that hold the top in place.
