I cant get in to the online matches when a friend invites me..it says my playlist is older than his and sometime it will freeze saying DOWNLOADING GAME SETTINGS

why i can not join to my buddies invitation

try telling a friend online to invite u to a party then tell him what game to play

when i try to play online it comes up with fetching playlists, updating rank and unlocks and connecting to matchmaking server. why is it doing that\/

The problem is your internet is not good enough to host or join their game. There is probably some type of connection problem or their game is full. Hope this helps.

I've got a ps3 and call of duty 4+5, half the fun of the game is playing with a mate and I've had exactly the same problem as you. It just seems to be about trial and error sometimes, have tried connecting like you for over an hour before and then on other days it just connects wth my mate straight away.
Sometimes it helps to join a game(so you can see and hear other players) then invite your mate, if he/she to reply to your invite is quick sometimes you can get in that way.
The only other bit of advice is to try different times of the day as the load on the servers does change throughout the day, apart from that it really is an issue with activision and for me the playstation network

u should try to invite ur friend to a (co op) party if he's in ur party then go to multiplayer and invite him again it works with me every time.

this is a common problem. one of you needs to reset your internet connection... i used to have the same problem. (its not a setting issue)... this should work but if it doesn't, please let me know

Try finding a patch online I do think I had seen something on the ps3 forums.. should be taken care of rather soon its not just you with this issue! but its not everyone!

All right you need to check your wirless connection or maybe someone is using the internet while you are in your house.
