Double Blue Halo Effect and Blurry Blue Picture

We have a Philips 60PP9202 Rear Proj. HDTV and are having problems with the blue. We just replaced the convergence IC and that wasn't it b/c it looks the same. The color blue has a halo effect on the picture and the words show up double with the blue word on the bottom. So, it wasn't the IC, could it be the bulb? Any other ideas?

Thats a problem with the Blue CRTs coolant needing replacement. If you look directly into the blue and green CRTs while its playing you should notice a bunch of crud inside the lens indicating that the coolant needs replacement. You can get the coolant replacement kit for a phillips at the following link which includes the coolant and instructions

This is a convergence problem that is being effected by heat. If you can solder, you should be able to resolve this yourself. Please be aware that there are potentially dangerous high voltages present inside the set even when unplugged.

Look for the large black ICs attached to a heatsink that will be marked STKxxx. These are the convergence ICs. Try resoldering the pins on these ICs and report the results. If the resoldering does not resolve the problem, the ICs may need to be replaced.

My Philips HDTV 60PP9202 has blue and red curved lines

Check to see if you can adjust the convergence. If you can't adjust the red and blue in all directions you need to replace the convergence chips and resistors. If you not sure how to check the convergence goto the site www.TvRepairKits.com and goto the Tips section.

Blurry picture

The CRT fluid in the blue and green tube are most likely clouded. The set is still good. You just need to replace the fluid. Check with the site www.TvRepairkits.com - they are working on developing a fluid kit that includes a photo instuction quide.

If the blue looks like an aura of light around the picture then it is likely to be a problem with the color wheel, probably it should be replaced.

Try first doing a color auto balancing (magic focus) and see how it goes, probably you will need to replace color wheel.

Mitsubishi VS-50703 blurry after move

A halo effect usually means the coolant in the CRTs need replacing in the effected color usually blue goes first followed by green. red seems to be less prone for some reason.
