This usually means that the batteries need to be replaced. Make sure you check the type of batteries needed for your timer, and replace them according to the instructions. If the issue persists after replacing the batteries, you may need to contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician for further assistance

I have my ej500 set to turn on at sunset and off at sunup. however it turns off at 11 pm. How do I fix this?

The first thing you should check is that the time and location settings on your ej500 are correct. If they are incorrect, the timer may be turning off at the wrong time. Here's how to check:
  1. Press and hold the "clock" button on your ej500 timer for about 3 seconds until the display flashes.
  2. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to set the current time, making sure to set the correct AM/PM designation.
  3. Press the "clock" button again to confirm the time setting.
  4. Press and hold the "mode" button until the display shows "LAT" for latitude and "LON" for longitude.
  5. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to set your location's latitude and longitude. You can find this information by doing an internet search for your city's coordinates.
  6. Press the "mode" button again to confirm the location setting.
Once you have confirmed that the time and location settings are correct, try resetting the timer to its default settings by pressing and holding the "reset" button on the side of the device for about 3 seconds until the display flashes. Then, reprogram the timer to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise. Here's how to do that:
  1. Press the "prog" button on your ej500 timer.
  2. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to set the "on" time to "sunset" and the "off" time to "sunrise."
  3. Press the "prog" button again to confirm the programming.
If the timer still turns off at 11 pm instead of sunrise, it's possible that there is a malfunction with the device. In that case, you may need to contact the manufacturer for further assistance or consider purchasing a new timer.

Intermatic timers might require reset-and-reprogram after battery replacement.
To reset, hold down on-off button and push reset button once.
Keep holding on-off button until display changes.
Release on-off button, and display should blink 12:00

Try cleaning battery carriage contacts with alcohol and make sure battery polarity is correct.

If functionality is not restored, then replace timer.

I have a Intermatic Wall Timer Model EJ500 and I only have 3 wires and can I usethe Wood Model #59028 and where can I get one if it works. I had a single pole switch when I installed the Intermatic. The...

Yes you can use 59028 if you have Neutral or bare ground wire.

EJ500 is battery operated.
Woods 59028 uses electricity to power internal electronics. Like plugging in alarm clock so timer mechanism works.
That's why 59028 has white wire and EJ500 does not.

EJ500 can be used for 3-way switching, so it has extra red wire that is capped off in single pole operation. EJ500 blue wire connects to Load (light, fan, motor)

59028 is for single pole only. The red wire connects to Load.

Here's how to wire 59028:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59028
1) Timer-green-wire connects to bare ground wire.
2) Connect 59028 red wire where EJ500 blue wire was connected.
3) Connect 59208 black wire where EJ500 black wire was connected.
4) When electric box does not have white neutral wires, then connect timer-white to bare ground.
5) Turn on electricity, and push door on 59028 timer to activate on-off override. If Load comes on, timer is wired correctly. If Load does not come on, then reverse timer-red and timer-black wires.

Flickering bulbs

You posted under EJ500 Intermatic battery-operated timer.
If you have different timer, add a comment.
I have tested EJ500 timer.

A) If this is new single-pole installation and lights click on-off when timer turned on, then you connected red wire where blue wire should be connected.

Manual says for single pole switch:
Timer-black-wire to Hot; Timer-blue-wire to Load (lights)
Here's how to wire timer correctly:
1) Timer-green-wire connects to bare ground wire.
2) Switch has 2 wires. Take switch wires and connect them to timer-black-wire and timer-blue-wire. Choose either one for now.
3) Put wire nut on red wire.
4) Turn on electricity, and push ON-OFF button. If lights come on, timer is wired correctly. If lights do not come on, then reverse timer-blue and timer-black wires.

B) If you are replacing 3-way switch, view wiring diagrams shown on link below, and then add a comment saying exact color of wires. To wire this timer for 3-way can require additional wire between switches. This is because EJ500 blue wire must always go to Load (light, fan, motor)
http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html#EJ500-wire

C) If this is older timer that stopped working, check your bulbs. Then check timer battery. Manual says if timer stops working and bulbs are good, and battery good, then reset timer and reprogram. How to reset timer. Press reset button while holding down Next/ON-OFF button.
EJ500 manual has long list of programming instructions: Add a comment if you forgot parts of programming.

We recently purchased a home with an intermatic model EJ500 timer. It does not work. Changed batteries - screen does not light up. Breaker checked and working. Nothing happens when press next/on/off and...

EJ500 has 1 year warranty. The reset button sits naturally lower than other buttons.

The manual shows troubleshooting.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-ej500c-manual.pdf

If timer is blank: display bulb burned out; press next/on/off, other timer or switch has turned off power to EJ500.

Maybe a new timer is needed. ST01C (1 year) & EI600 (5 year warranty) each offer same 40-programs per week.

Timers shown above are battery operated, and cannot operate load farther than 100' from timer.

EI500 & GE 15086 offer 7 programs per week ... 7 on events and 7 off events.
