Question about Frigidaire Heating & Cooling

Ductless Heat pump. It displays (snowflake) U5 code and does nothing. What does this code mean?

Fixr is correct. I do not recommend using the Mitsubishi or Sanyo below 17 degrees. It may cost you a fortune in electricity below 50 degrees depending upon where you live. Mitsubishi is the better model.

CA: Compressor Discharge Sensor Fault

Contact a qualified service technician and have them replace this sensor.

SOURCE: Have RHOSS heat pump showing E01

Different manufacturers use different codes, as I am sure you have figured out. Most of them that I have run into E-01 means the inside and outside units are not communicating. One is without power or there is a broken or loose wire.

The snowflake means it's cooling. If the outdoor unit is not running then the problem is likely outside.

Why does it keep shutting off and displaying ec?

Code "EC" means that the unit is low on Freon,, it will need to be charged, and also figure out why it's low,, allot of times the copper line connections need to be tightened.

It means the power is off or went off to unit . Check for power then power cycle unit to try and restart .

I am not able to get the unit to change from air conditioning to heat

Unfortunately these units are not user fixable , beyond checking for power and checking battery in remote. You would need to call a pro who is able to get service information and has special digital logic meters to diagnose and repair .

My 2007 jeeop compass wont start and I see on the dash no u5

head lights work perfect, key off? if not fix that first. easier x 1000.

key on all cluster warn lamps come on as the oper. guide states?
yes/no?
sure it can be a fuse, any time any thing electrical fails , check fuses.
all cars, and all machines.
next is to attach the scan tool (above things ok)
and see the scan DTC error codes.
after cranking for 5 seconds
see CMP , CKP or spark failures or scanned RPM at 0?
all EFI cars cut fuel for dead spark.
by law and fire safety.

if the display shows odd codes, they are all in the operators guide.

Friedrich ductless heat pump will not start up.

Did you check to see if the compressor is running? Check out start relay/capacitor.

Heat shuts off, red power light blinking and number 12 blinking on the display screen.

You may have had a power failure. The situation could be as simple as turning the stove off and on again. The 12 code means flame failure. Gas heater are nothing to mess around with if you don't understand them completely. Don't remove anything from the unit unless you are very sure what you're doing. A call to Rinnai is in order if the code keeps coming on. Good luck,

First check your circuit breaker or fuse that supplies power to the outside unit. It's probably separate from the inside unit. Then try to turn unit on. If the fan and compressor just make a humming sound then turn it off and check the capacitor if you have a multimeter. You can also look at it and see if the top looks expanded. That's a good sign its bad, but not all bad one's look expanded. Tomorrow I will have access to an LG service manual and can let you know what the code means. Sorry I can't get it sooner. Let me know what you find.
