SOURCE: 42" Sharp Aquous audio; Mono vs. Stereo

no. that is not true. the person you spoke to obviously didn't know what they were talking about. you mean to tell me that everyone that has a cable or satellite box with a stereo or hd tv is not going to receive stereo sound? really, think about it. you only need a cable box( for now ) if you have premium channels (hbo, showtime etc). you can connect the cable line right into the tv if you only have basic cable. look at the back of your cable box. if you have a red, white, & yellow audio/video output, then the box is stereo.connect these outputs to your tv. this connection however is not hd.you will need a hd box with a hdmi cable for hd .To put the tv on stereo mode, there should be a way via the menu and/or the audio button on the remote to get it off mono and put it on stereo. your manual should at least show you around the settings of your tv.

SOURCE: I have a Aiwa Stereo Receiver Av-D58. The sound

If I remember this model correctly, there is only 1 direct input. The remainder of the inputs are bufferred through a switching IC. It is likely that this IC is defective. Are there any other symptoms at all?

Thanks,
Dan

SOURCE: 5.1 Surround Sound Cutting Out

HI,
Yes you are right man, this problem occurs only with the cable problem, i can explain you, if there is a receiver problem means you won't get the sound its dam sure,
only if there is a cable problem you will get some noise or sound cut off with the speakers, so you please check the cables properly it will be alright.

SOURCE: hooking up a sony playstation 3 with digital optical cable

Here's one solution, if you have an audio output from your tv, you can go from the audio output on your tv to the audio input on your receiver that way anything that is playing on your tv for example, playstation 3, dvd player etc. Anything playing on your tv will have audio on your onkyo home theater system. The other thing I would try if you want to hook ps3 directly to receiver is go to your connection settings on your ps3 menu and change your connection method to digital optical cable.

SOURCE: digital optical output for technics 5.1 surround sound receiver

I went to the HDTV plasma manual. It stated the only way the digital optical audio output would work (from this TV) was to go to the menu, select audio and turn off the TV speakers. Basically, it had nothing to do with the technics receiver.

Using satelite speakers on arcam avr100

Depending on the type of satelite speakers, Bose for example used on their own would be damaged, if your satelite plugs into a sub speaker they are protected by circuitry that controls output level when tied into the whole system, so using them on their own is not a good idea.

No sound with cable tv- AM/FM works ok

First, check all the connections to the receiver.. Make sure everything is plugged in where it should be.. Also make sure, that when you are on TV/CABLE that the surround sound is selected and that "headphones" is not.. Also check any other modes that may have been changed, (IE digital input, 5.1 channel, etc...)

Arcam AVR200. Buzzing sounds in all 5.1 speakers. Gets louder as volume is turned up. Tried all sorts of different things - different power source, 1 speaker, different modes.

I had the same problem. I was told by a sales guy at a high end audio store that I should try using a 3-Prong To 2-Prong Adapter. I went and bought one. I plugged it in and no more buzzing.

you can find them at HomeDepot, Lowes or dollor store.11_25_2012_6_28_23_pm.jpg

We just purchased an LG, LED, LCD, TV and just realised that our existing Arcam AVR 100 does not have an optical out. Does this mean we need a new amp or are there alternative solutions? Many thanks.

Actually, it doesn't have ANY digital outputs. Just what do you require one for? Name specific models and functions when replying.

Do you think the TV NEEDS optical audio from the receiver? Maybe the TV could survive on just analog audio from the video source, while the GOOD audio goes to the ARCAM since the ARCAM is going to do the hard work of managing and driving the REAL speakers.

I have Arcam Receiver AVR 300. I bought it used a few months ago and the receiver had worked like a dream. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, there was no sound from the SAT channel/output where the...

Seems you set it to "Stereo Direct" mode. This is an analog only mode, while you are using a digital signal. You can change this with the mode button.
Press menu, on the main menu screen 1, scroll down to stereo direct. Turn this OFF.
This should solve your issue!

Arcam avr 300 keeps switching off intermitently, and the red standby light flashes.

I wonder if anyone can help explain what the likely problem will be with my Arcam AV300 amp. Whilst watching TV for no particular reason an extremely loud (what i can only describe as feedback) sound comes out of my B & W speakers for approximately 3 seconds, then silence as the Arcam switches off, I’m then unable to switch it back on for a period of time, (this varies between 5minutes to a few hours) when it eventually switches back on everything seems to be working perfectly. This has happened quite a number of times although it’s intermittent & occurring every 1 - 6 weeks.

Only my left and right speaker connections works ..what do i do about the other amp wire connections(center and the other 2 pair)

Have you gone through the setup and set the speaker menu so that the unit knows you have other speakers. Check it even if you did. Check that you are not in direct mode or stereo.
