Trying to figure out the serial numbers on two bicycles I just bought. They are Ross R68327506 and R68265801

I was able to find the answer on a California University website. The model number was on the bottom of the bike near the pedals.

Does it have to be an original part? Most any parts on a bicycle are interchangable with other bikes.....good luck with it.

I bought a bike frame today and I am trying to figure out what year and model it is ! It has a Schwinn plate on the front and the serial number is Y6500017 .
Schwinns often have a date code on or next to the head badge that you call a plate. That will tell you the month and year of manufacture. Google Schwinn date code" ( or serial number) for more info, but it is important only for curiosity to know model. For more info see my tip: How to determine the year value etc of your bicycle

I have an old Roadmaster bicycle. Trying to find a database of serial numbers so I can find out more info about it and what it's value might be. I know my dad bought it for me sometime in the 1950's
There is no single database of bike serial numbers. Just Google "Roadmaster serial number." Nobody can do any better than that for you. You can also check my tip for info on determining value:

Some bicycles have multiple serial numbers...so if I'm trying to check to see on-line if a bike is stolen (I work in a bicycle shop) I don't know how to enter multiple numbers
Your only option is to enter the serial numbers one at a time. Some bikes have a serial number and a separate date code, but there's no way to know which was used by the person reporting the theft. You can also try Bikepedia.com, which goes by brand and model as well.

I have a Ross Mt. Hood Hi Tech bike serial # RT6B0604 Would like to know what year it is
Serial number is often not helpful, but if you go to BikePedia and put in the brand and model you can browse through the results until you find the color scheme and equipment that matches your bike.
I would note that model year is usually only important when a buyer wants to know that info. Even then mechanical condition and appearance is far more important than age.

I have a bicycle frame and can't figure out what it is.. The serial number is M80856608
By the serial number, I can't determine what kind, model, size or manufacturer is. Maybe you should take it to the local bike shop.

They may have more expertise than a web page

Hi trying to re grease the pedal sprocket bearings on my Ross Rock Machine mountain bike. I got off the pedal arm on the right side but can't figure out how the left side comes off. The pedal arm looks...
Bottom brackets are sealed, removing the seal will have potential for damage. If it's making noise, replace it or better yet upgrade as a crankset. You'll have new crankarms, bottom bracket, chainrings with it. Unless you have the correct bicycle tools (not general automotive tools) you won't be able to pull your crank and even reach the seal for the bottom bracket.
