Unload the drawers. Pull the drawer all the way out until it stops. Then lift the front of the freezer drawer (a couple of inches), and pull out further (4-6"). The front will then lower to the floor. Lift the back of the drawer upward and slid the entire drawer forward. You may want to protect your floor.

Kitchen aid French door refrigerator has freezer drawer at bottom that doesn't open after being in storage for over a year

Use a hair dryer to heat it and try spraying some silicone spray such as WD 40 around the tracks. Something has dried and caused it to stick. Try removing the top of the drawer from the frig. It you can, it will be a lot easier to un-stick

How to defrost freezer in kitchen Aid bottom drawer freezer

My kitchen aid bottom drawer freezer kept melting and freezing to block the drain and then water would leak out all over the floor. I did the WHOLE fridge/freezer defrosting process once, when i really just needed to do the bottom.

I have had issues with other Kitchen Aid (NEW BTW) appliances so I've talked to many repair people. One guy who came out to fix something else, told me that the freezer is really a pain to get to close completely. SO, when you don't close it all the way (Extra push) it will melt and then re freeze when it is closed properly. He suggested I take everything out, leave it open and use a hair dryer on the ice until it melts. Then use a wire hanger to unplug the drain to make sure its draining properly.

It works! You really have to make sure the drawer is shut ALL the way. I have a 2 yr old who is constantly opening it up...this is my issue! The seal is not that great and you have to really push it closed to prevent the ice build up issue.

Hope that helps!

Every couple of days lots of water runs out on the floor.

It sounds like the defrost drain is clogged up. On some models there is a removeable white pull out cup located in the center back wall at the top in the refrigerator section. It is connected to a tube on the back of the refrigertor. If that is blocked water will be in the bottom under the crisper drawers.

Refrigertor not cooling but freezer working

your temp control fan has probibly gone out. The way you find out is to find the fan which should be located near the temp control switch behind a plastic vent. If this fan is out there will be cooling in the freezer but not in the fridge. Also, if you open that area and find a large chunk of ice you defroster rod has gone out. Would recommedn replacing both at that time. Get model and serial number of unit and take to an appliance parts house they can assist you in the right part and any type of installation problems. Good Luck
