The Denon RC-1068 universal remote has an Amp button on the top left side of the unit. This button toggles through Amp, Zone 2, Zone 3, Zone 4 (on some devices) and System Call. In the Amp mode, it will control your Denon device default zone. If the remote is set to one of the other zones/modes, press the Home button (right side in the row with the Quick Select keys, above the surround sound buttons) to return to the Amp mode. Then press the Input button (on the left side), below the tuner buttons, to select the audio-visual source that you want.
If the remote control have set-up codes to your denon dvd, you can.
If you wish to get more details; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Hi, If dvd combo player is only video source connected with Denon AVR 790 then unplug yellow video wire from Denon and plug it directly in TV input, now video signal will go directly to tv and sound will come from Denon AVR 790 speakers during dvd playback. This is simple bypass that wont effect surround sound of dvd playback. Let me know if you have additional question. Thanks.
Help with hooking PS3 to a Denon Receiver. It worked before, but I had to move everything to a different location and when I hooked it back up the PS3 has sound but no picture. I have it hooked directly to the receiver with and HDMI cable (the receiver is hooked up to our cable box which is directly hooked to the tv via HDMI cable).
Your best set up is to plug the DVD and the direct tv optical or coaxial out. The Denon has both. You will then have to choose digital input on the receiver. There is a blue indicator light that will light and a graphic that will show all speakers are working. There is also a pink noise test that will play each speaker in order. This test button is located on the remote.
