Looking for troubleshooting advice for an Electrolux Epic 8000 canister vacuum. Everything works except power brush. Issue is electrical, not mechanical.

Neither floor or hand accessory attachments will power up. I have not been able to find a wiring diagram for vacuum canister or hose handle. I do not know how to take the hose handle apart.

Check the spout. The plastic piece inside where your hose goes in. Should be 2 contacts one on each side. There should be a little plastic partially covering the contacts. The best way to trouble shoot is to turn vac and power head on and wiggle the end of the hose. Hope this helps. Chris

It is likely a wiring issue, check the continuity of the wires to the brush motor.

SOURCE: electrolux canister vacuum

The easiest solution would be to call your local Aerus/ Electrolux representative, because the corporation doesnt publish diagrams.

Reset button on epic 8000 electrolux canister vacuum

Check the drive belt. could be broken. Not sure about reset button but i would say it has to do with the belt.

Help me troubleshoot Epic 8000!

Try a different hose to test the motor. Make sure it's a good one from a working vacuum. If it works, the problem is likely in the switch, wiring, but could be the hose itself. Other problems could the the triac or relay in the vacuum.
Best thing to do is to take it in to an Aerus dealer and let them troubleshoot it if a different hose doesn't work.
Note: Do NOT use a Renaissance hose.

There is a light on the top that looks like a cord that is on. the vacuum hose attachment does not work. I just changed a bag did i do something wrong

The light with a cord "plug" on it indicates that there is power coming to the vacuum. This is normal.
Assuming that the vacuum works, but not the power nozzle, turn the PN over to view the brush. Clear all hair, thread, fibers, etc., that may be wrapped aroung the brush. Use a sharp knife or scissors to cut through them for ease of removal. Make sure the ends of the brush are cleared as well. Try the vacuum and press the reset switch on the PN. Does it work?
Is the PN motor running, but the brush isn't spinning. Turn PN over and try to spin the brush. If it turns freely, the belt is broken and needs replaced. This should be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service tech to avoid incorrect reassembly and resulting damage to vacuum and owner.
If the brush doesn't freely spin, but turns with resistance, this is normal.
If it still doesn't work, try the Sidekick mini power nozzle that should have come with it. If it works, but the full size PN doesn't, there's a problem with the PN. It needs to be taken to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for diagnosis (free) and repair.
If the Sidekick doesn't work, the problem is in the hose, wands, or canister. It could be due to bad switches, wiring, and other electrical problems. In this case, the entire vacuum needs to be taken to an authorized Aerus Electrolux dealer for diagnosis and needed repairs.

My Epic 6500 power head will not turn on. Had to push the reset many times the last time it ran, and now it will not turn on. Help!

Does the power nozzle motor come on? Is it just that the brush won't turn? If it's just the brush not rotating, the belt probably broke and needs replaced.
Is the brush clean? If not, clean all threads, etc. off.
Check all wire connections for breaks, cracks, and discoloration. Power nozzle to wand, wand to wand, wand to hose. If any of those are found, that part, and probably the one it connects to. will need replaced.
Ensure all connections are snug.
Internal wiring, including connections, could be bad. This would include wiring in the power nozzle, wands, hose, or canister.
Reset or hose switch could be bad. These would need replaced.
Power nozzle motor could be bad. Generally the belt will break before the motor burns out, but it's possible it's didn't.
For any internal repairs, including belt replacement, the entire vacuum should be taken to an authorized Aerus Electrolux dealer. The service technician can also troubleshoot and find the problem. This is generally done at no charge.
You've got a great machine, and with proper care and maintenance it should last for years to come.
