Toshiba 50A60 Lenticular cracked.

Hey guys. I need to replace the lenticular screen on my Toshiba 50A60 projection TV. Toshiba and all of the parts distributors tell me they don't make it anymore! Do you have any sources for used parts or any ideas on how I can replace this thing. I hate to throw away the TV since it still is a great TV.

Thanks.

I don't have a particular source, but if you fail to find one you may try using a similar screen fopr a different model if you're a bit handy. Depending on how the screen is fastened, you might even be able to fit a regular canvas (roller curtain type or similar, user with video projectors)

If it has to ba some kind of specific frame on it you miahgt have to "hack" it, and it might not be that pretty. If it's just a screen fastened inside a frame, kind of like the glass in a picture frame you can get one in the same size, or a bit bigger and cut it down to size yourself.

My screen is cracked need to be replaced

Your set has 3 screens:
FA812 SuperShield is no longer available
23837472 Lenticular lens is no longer available
23837450 Fresnal lens is also not available.

Check with some of your local TV shops. You may find a non-working TV with good screens for sale.

Good luck

Cracked screen

The lenticular and fresnal screen for that unit are sold together under RCA p/n# 258513 and are available from Vance Baldwin for about $260.00 plus shipping.. They make for an oversized item so the shipping is probably 70% of the part cost.

Hope this helps!

Toshiba 50a60 cracked screen

i have just experienced the same myself, what you need to do is find a tv the same size, it doesnt have to be the from the same manufacturer, although it helps if you can get the same, as all lenticulars do the same job.

The outer screen is called the Lenticular, and the inner is called the fresnal, depending how bad your lenticular is cracked will determine if your fresnal has gone also, the only real way of knowing is when you take it apart to change it, (Dead Easy).

they are quite close together, but dont be afraid of trying, i have never changed one before, but i did it in about forty minutes and i dont know the first thing about tvs and now it is as new.

to change it, all you have to do is unscrew the front of your tv, from the surrounding screws at the back of it, once you have done this there are four or five small screws that hold the front of it up, take these out and your front will come off complete with lenticular and fresnal.

place it face down on a soft surface, so as that you are looking out of the inside of your screen, and you will see the fresnal.

they are held together with four brackets, one on each side of the screen.

unscrew the brackets, and take the fresnal off, then the lenticular.

put your new lenticular in, then the fresnal on top of that, and then secure it together again by screwing the four brackets back on.

it really is that simple, do not let these TV repairmen, scare you into buying a screen from them and charge you an extortionate amount of money to fit it.

im not sure if plexiglass will work, i was quoted £160+VAT for my screen from Toshiba, so what i did, i went on Ebay and found a full tv that was for spares or repairs, and paid £26 for it, and it is just as it was before.

One thing you must not do when attemting to change it, and that is to be scared of attempting it, because once you have done it, and at a fraction of the cost, you like me will curse the people who make a living out of overcharging people for such an easy job!!!!

Good Luck, and hope this has helped..
