If that’s not the case, valve is most likely defective

Sounds like hot and cold hoses are reversed.

SOURCE: No hot water

Make sure your hot water supply valve is on first. If so then try reversing the hot and cold water feed lines and see if you get hot water when asking for cold. The water valve for the hot water side could be bad. Are you familiar with a voltage meter or know someone that can see if you valve coil is getting 120V when the machine is trying to fill with hot water. If not the control unit is faulty. If you do have the 120Vac on the solinoid coil and no water the either the coil is open circuit(bad) or the inlet is plugged. Most generally the problem is in the control knob unit.

SOURCE: Washer Fills HOT WATER ONLY

If you checked the screens at the water inlet valve and they were not clogged, then you probably have a defective water inlet valve and will have to replace it. Hope this helped.

Water temp

Good Morning, Pull the hoses off of the washer again, noting which hose goes where. You may have to pull the washer out to see this. Look at the male parts that are exposed. Take something sharp and pull filter screens out and clean. Reinsert and install hoses. Did it fix it? If not, you need a new water valve part number; 3979346 $35.92 at Sears. Hope this helps and have a good day

Hot water won't run into washer

G'day. The hoses from your laundry taps hook up to your machine onto what are called solenoids. These are like electrical taps. The machine decides when to turn these on and off and in what order via the timer and depending on what modes are selected. Generally there is a hot and cold solenoid. If you have both hot and cold hooked up to your machine, you can simply swap these hoses around (put the hot tape on the cold solenoid and vis-versa) Then when you select cold, you'll actually be getting hot. Some new machines heat water internally like dishwashers, and they only have one solenoid. Again if you put the hot tape only on, you will get hot water with cold selected. In both solutions you are losing the option for cold or hot cycles with a click of a button - now you must swop hoses...

I am getting warm water when we have selected colc/cold. I have checked the cold water intake and it works. In fact, if I shut the hot water intake, I only get cold water for the wash. What is causing...

If you turn off the hot water line, and you have cold water then suspect the water inlet valve. Unplug the unit and turn off the water to disconnect the water hoses. Pull out the washer and remove the back of the unit by the water hose inlet. The new valve is around $65.00 and is on connectors, which make it an easy fix.

Water temp setting of warm gives cool water

Some washing machines allow hot water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally. If you're sure the machine isn't working the way it used to--or should--try these tests:Is the hot water turned on? If not, turn it on.Is the washer getting cold water but no hot water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct. Is there hot water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, completely replace it.

I cannot get cold water to flow into the washer when this temp is selected? Only warm and hot work.

Washer temp setting changes by itself

I also have a Whirlpool washer/dryer for my condo, although I don't know the model number of mine. I had the same problem -- after it was precisely a year old, suddenly one day the hot and cold started coming out reversed. I was able to fix mine by more or less temporarily fiddling with the water pressure. What I did was one time, when the rinse cycle was running and the washer was filling up with hot water (grrrr...), I completely shut off the valve supplying hot water. So at that point the water stopped filling into the washer, and then I started tinkering with the cold water, twisting the valve off and on a few times. Then BINGO, suddenly the cold water "kicked in" and for the remainder of the rinse cycle, it filled the washer with cold water. I then turned the hot water valve back on, and since then it has been running correctly.

No matter what the temp setting is at it only has very hot water

Your water temp is determined by 2 things. First the hook up to your water supply. If you are able to turn off the hot water valve that feeds the unit and then select a cold water only wash, do you get cold water?? If not then someone hooked up the hoses to 2 hot water feeds. If hot and cold feeds are installed right, the second thing is your computer which monitors the incoming temp through the boards atc control and a thermister. If you select cold, and only get a hum and the cold water valve is on, you may have to clean the screens in the valve of any sediment. If no hum, and no cold, dead solenoid on valve, but that would throw an error code usually. All fills are monitored by the board and usually begin with a hot/wrm mix and then changeover to a monitored cold temp , about 70 degrees.

I can't get the cold water to fill the tub/rinse. the hot works.

Your problem is either a clogged COLD fill valve or a bad water fill valve. Turn the water off. Remove the COLD hose from the WASHER. Check the filter screen inside the valve for sediment. If you find sediment, remove the screen and clean it. Replace the screen and turn the water back on. If you do not find sediment on the screen, replace the water valve.

Cold water starts and stops when washing

sounds like your washer has an auto temp. control if so the washer mesures the temp of the water and put in the manufacture set temp for that setting this board could be bad alowing only cold water to come into the machine. you could also have low hot water pressure at the washer be sure the hot water is turned all the way on. you may want to check to make sure no trash is in the hot water side of the water valve there is a screen in there where the hose conects you can remove that screen and clean it im sure one of these solutions will help you
