The lighted version gets power for the light from the hooks used to attach the device to the cover. Early versions of the non-lighted cover are reported to interfere with the hidden power connectors.

You can find out, by removing the cover and see if the problem goes away.

If you feel your Kindle suffers from this problem, contact Amazon Kindle customer support (go to HERE, click on "Kindle Support" in the upper right and on the next page find the "Contact us" button). According to other customers who had the same issue, Amazon replaces the faulty non-lighted cover for a lighted one at no extra costs.

SOURCE: kindle is stuck in the Amazon.com kindle store can't get out

Hold the power button to the right for 30 seconds. (Time them- not "One thousand one, one thousand two, ect." because this isn't precise enough.) This will reboot the Kindle and it should work. The reboot may take a while if it has been a long time since your last reboot.

How do I get back a kindle book that I deleted in error after it said that I couldn't read the edition I purchased?

Find it there then redownload it. If you deleted the book from your "manage your kindle" while signed on to your account, it's gone forever. LadyH95 says: If all you did was remove it from your device, you can (from your Kindle) press HOME, then press MENU, then select "View Archived Items".2 Jun 2011

My old kindle wouldn't update so I got a kindle fire to replace it. Will I get the books I ordered before I got the new one. The books were pre-ordered and not out until 4/12 & 6/14

Books that you order automatically go to your Amazon Cloud in your Account. Any device such as a Kindle, or PC or Tablet with the Kindle app will be able to access it, it doesn't have to be your old one.

I want to buy a new kindle but am concerned about transfering my books to the new kindle.

Two methods.
First: A computer is required. Connect the old Kindle to the computer it should show up as a new drive. Open that drive and find the books. Transfer them to the computer. Plug in new Kindle and do the same only transfer the transferred books from the computer onto the new Kindle.
Two: If you purchased the books from sources like Amazon, your books are saved on their cloud. Simply connect your new device and download all your books again.

Why is my recent order Hand in Glove kindle book not on my kindle despite my having had an invoice from Amazon

Check your Kindle's internet connection. If it is down or unconnected, the book can't download to your device.

How do i delete books

I think the new update on the kindle has it to where you have to login to your kindle account on Amazon, and remove it from your device that way. It is not taking up any space on your kindle now' it may just be the book cover, but login to your amazon account and remove that book from your selected Kindle.
