When you open your top cover (with power on of course) your print carriage will move across to the centre of the printer. Remove your ink tanks (same way you always would) and the place where the cartridges sit is actually your printhead. To remove it you need to lift the small gray arm on the side of the carriage upward. Now the printhead itself will just slide out. Replace with new one same procedure as removal reversed.

OK lift the gray lever up and remove the cartridges, look just below the gray lever and you will see two rounded protrousions inside towards the rear of the black box, grasp these protrousions with your thumbs and forfingers and gently pull toward you, ther may be some resestance but pull smoothly do not ****, the print head will come out. There are no wires to disconnect the circuits are touch circuits.

You can try ebay or Canon them selves, the trouble is they cost about £50, as much a new printer.
Alternatively you could try cleaning the head, its probably only blocked with dry ink. But not using the printer software, you'll have to get hold of a printer head cleaning kit, I've seen them on ebay you'll probably also get them from ink suppliers.
