If everything is lighting up but no sound. Ensure nothing in headphone socket, try master reset, hold top C key while turning on.

If noting improves open up and replace Capacitor C216 & C217
Quite a common fault.
Hopefully this will solve the issue.

SOURCE: Looking for circuit diagrams for yamaha dx21

Have you managed to locate a DX21 service manual yet?? What problem are you experiancing with the 21?? From your request notes you mention 'all audio sections are live', do you mean that you have no audio from the 21?? Most faults i have experienced with the 21 are, failure of the main OPP YM2164 fm chip and associated D/A convertor(YM3102). In some cases YM3102 is ok .When the YM2164 fails, DX21 will boot as normal but no sound whatsoever from the audio out's. YM2164 is the main tone generation ic. Also when YM2164 is replaced, if sounds are reloaded back into the memory areas from ROM and the display reads gibberish in certain memory areas then a ram or rams have failed also. The crunch, Don't expect to get a YM2164 and Associated components easily, these things are very rare. I have seen the YM2164 fetch £35!! Best way around this, if you are eager to repair the synth is to purchase a working YAMAHA FBO1 FM MODULE ,not a popiular module and sell for about £20 - £50 on ebay. You can rip the parts out of the unit and use them in the 21. Sell whats left on EBAY spares or repairs.
The damaged (i believe) is caused by failure in the powersuppy causing voltage rails to 'spike'. What is strange is the cpu stays in tact. Capaitor replacements can cure this problem. I have a complete circuit diagram i can scan and email to you for a small fee for my time if required . email me:- [email protected]

SOURCE: Keys sticking on Yamaha p120 digital piano....how do I open it up

you may not need to open it up.
try using a wax based furniture polish on the keys, it will leave a layer to act as a lubricant between the keys.

SOURCE: Yamaha P-200 electric piano does not have any

Plug in your ear phones to see if you can hear the sound that way. If not you are experiencing some internal failure in your integrated amp output.

In that case you will need to get authorised service.

SOURCE: Yamaha CLP-860 Digital Piano Keys Making Noises

The part numbers are only available through the Yamaha Corporation. The Service manual, which is available for purchse (note that this is NOT the owner's manual) will have them.

I repaired mine on my own. I used a sticky foam tape of the correct width (approxiately 3/8 wide) and overlaid one layer directly over the original felt pad. I used a white foam tape like is used for carpet or other indoor needs. If I were doing it again I would probably use something just a little thicker and softer than what I used (appx. 1/16 thick).

Disassembling the Clavinova and removing the entire GH88 keyboard for this work is not hard if you are even moderately handy. I had the entire mechanics of the unit laid bare in 45 minutes with no manual (and not one curse word).

I am going to write up a tutorial on this soon as many people have asked about it.

By th way, I have heard that the factory pads are $100. My solution cost me about $3. Even if I have to do it again in a year, it's a win.

I have a viscount allegro digital piano and its power is not working when I try to turn it on. Can someone help me figure out why or how to fix it?

Hey!

It might sound a little obvious but... Did you try checking the power chord voltage? Those AC adapters are very susceptible to get damage and it might be the actual cause. You can try using a voltimeter (if you have one) and checking its actual value. Then, if it works properly, the damage might be on the power electronical stage on your digital piano and that might not be easy to fix.

This specific models are not 100% digital, so its power unit might have some analog components. Maybe there's something easy to fix and replace if possible, but if a new module is needed, I'm afraid it will not be easy to find.

Could a faulty adapter cause my piano not to work.

definitely - you have to match the voltage going in (AC) and out (DC) and check the polarity (+ or - on the plug).

Key doesn't work properlyon yamaha p95 piano

take it back, its still under warranty. That means the key has a contact problem in the circuit. you have to take it all apart, clean it, check the contacts....probably lint. You can try vaccumming it and it might fix the problem. I bought one too and it wasnt good

Yamaha Clavinova CLP-440

It sounds like you have a part overheating and failing, then cooling off and starting again. i would take it into the nearest Yamaha repair facility or contact your local authorized repair to come take a look before it goes out of warranty.

Yamaha CP33 Studio Piano won' turn on. Was thinking maybe the power chord overheated but really have no idea

Make sure you have the CORRECT adapter for the unit. It should say Yamaha on it and match the voltage and polarity. Thest the output with a meter. Common problems that happen to the piano itself causing the symptoms is a broken power connector or broken solder at the connector. Use a meter and verify the adapter is producing output. Expect the output to be a bot higher than listed when not plugged into the piano as there is no load on the adapter.

There is a tinny unpleasant sustain in the high notes with or without pedal. Is there an adjustment to mellow this sort of ringing (the keyboard is set all the way to "mellow") we tried...

Some of the Yamaha pianos have several pianos emulated and selecting a "Grand" will sound different than if you select an "Electric" or "***** Tonk" setting.

There is NO internal adjustment for this. other than the voice selection. Choose either the Grand1 or Grand2. Do not use reverb as this can "ring".

Yamaha clavinova kights coming but sound not coming

Has the sett been kept off power for some time. If so lett the power on for about 12 hours so that the circuits will breathe in the volatges. Sometimes happens when there is condensation and restricts circuit to perform.
If not also let the power on for sometime. plug the headphones and try if sound is heard if so the speaker connection can be faulty or the speakers.
Other wise the mother board must be checked. if the selected tones are changing, then the audio amplifier must be checked.

The contacts of various switches and keys are likely dirty. They are often conductive rubber and need cleaning with 99% isoprophly alcohol and q-tip. Clean both the conductive rubber pill and th circuit board traces they contact.
