Your picture tube ( maybe ) is bad. Or transistor on CTR board is bad; sometimes loose connections cause this problem ( CTR board)

Screen went green on sony tv

Check the video output section circuit for any loose soldering or component failure. Check the voltage at the green cathode of the picture tube. Can be measured by using a multimeter. At present, this voltage will be lower than other tow cathode voltages. In most cases, the cause for this fault is found to be with loose solder terminals itself.
Check all the solder terminals at the video output stage printed circuit board. You can locate this board at the picture tube base itself. Will be plugged to the back of the picture tube neck. A rectangular board. Normally, it will be very difficult to detect loose solder points, as they might be microscopically small to detect by ***** eye. So it is recommended to re solder all the suspected solder terminals there, by applying little more fresh solder, without making any solder bridge short in between adjacent solder terminals. This must solve the problem you faces with your TV

1) I have a Sony KV-32FS13 that has a green tint in the picture. Does any oneknow how to access the service menu for this model? I tried other adjustments and I can't get rid of the annoying green...

Code 5 is "AKB error". AKB, or auto kine bias, is a cicuit that monitors the three color guns of the picture tube (red, green and blue) and tries to adjust them for proper color balance. If it can't, the picture is blanked (usually) and the timer/standby light blinks 5 times. When the color drives aren't balanced, you see a color tint in the picture like you're describing.

There might be a problem in the AKB circuit, or the picture tube may just be old enough that the AKB circuit has run out of adjustment range. If the tube is at fault, you should consider replacing the set. A new tube will cost nearly as much as a new 32-inch LCD TV, and you'll need to pay someone to install it and set it up. There are special tools required to perform the convergence which gets the color guns aligned with the face of the tube so they hit the right colors.

If you'd like to try tinkering with the service menu adjustments, this site explains how to access the menu and gives a list of settings.

My picture was prodominately green/red. I took the back of the TV off and looked into the bulbs. I could see a picture in the red and green, but in the blue it was barely there. Blue light was there, but...

1.) It means the Glycol in the blue tube is bad--usually contaminated by bacteria--each of the 3 picture tubes has a sealed area between the face of the tube and the lens above.

2.) If you see a picture in Green and RED but blue looks like a floodlight--the blue tube would have to be removed, drained, and the area with the Glycol washed out---new glycol added and the tube resealed and installed back into the set.

3.) This is a fairly major repair--the Glycol is very toxic---like antifreeze but much more concentrated---unless you have done it before I would not suggest it as a do it yourself job.

4.) The bacteria never affects the RED(it does not seem to like that color) and only sometimes the Green.

5.) It may not be worth repairing as most shops charge 200-300 or more for this kind of repair---not to mention that after it is done quite a lot of adjustment to the convergence will be needed from removing and reinstalling the tube.

6.) I know I am not giving you good news but you actually found your problem yourself! If you need any advice or help reply to this post and I will try to assist you.

I do this here for free so if this information helped you please take a minute to give me a vote here.

RU -44, small "pink" spot on screen.

Green is missing from the area where you see the pink (actually magenta) spot. This might be due to a large amount of dirt on the green lens. It may be due to damage to the face of the green picture tube. You need to remove the front screen so you can look into the lens and determine that.

Depending on the make and model of TV, the screen may be held on by snap fasteners and come loose when you pull on the plastic bezel surrounding it. Or the bezel may pull off to reveal brackets screwed into the cabinet that secure the screen. Or there may be a trim strip under the screen that pulls off to reveal screws. Remove those and the screen will swing up and off.

Once you can see the lenses, clean them with a soft rag and glass cleaner. With the set on, look down into the lens and you can see the face of the picture tube. If you see a dark spot on the face, the tube is damaged and would need to be replaced

Picture is all Green or Red

Its probably a combination of worn CRTs (picture tubes) and contaminated coolant chambers located between the CRT face and its lens. The repair cost as well as the availability of parts make this a poor candidate for repairs. It could easily cost over $1000 to do this repair.

If your tv has a picture tube, your problem is in it. If you have only one line now,the vertical circuit is not working. You could have jarred something loose around the picture tube.Maybe a yoke lead ???
