Since neither works, it would appear there is no power to them. Generally, there is a transformer in the attic or elsewhere which drops the voltage from 110 ac to 12 or 24 volts. Using a voltmeter which you can buy for as little as $5.00, measure the voltage at the doorbell. If there is voltage there, then check for a bad connection to the doorbell/intercom. If there is no voltage, look for the transformer and measure voltage on both sides of it. If you have 110 volts on one side, but no voltage on the other, it is bad and should be replaced.

Have you check the connection between doorbell and intercom? maybe the programm method is not correct.

I have a nutone intercom 3003 system that started making a whooping noise after a lightning storm? You can still faintly hear the radio and doorbell chimes but the whooping overrides with noise??

You may have got a power surge from the lightening that did damage to the electronics.

My doorbell and intercom are not working

I would suggest contacting ADT and tell them about what he did, and what problems have happened since that time and have them come back to correct them. This sounds like the repair person is not fully experienced with the work he did.
