Hi All, I just bought a Husqvarna Claire, turquoise sewing machine. I've tried to do research for it, but cannot find any useful information.

Does anyone have any idea how to remove the back or the metal guard beneath the needle? The pins look like they're not meant to be moved... also, if anyone knows where I could get my hands on a manual, let me know, i need all the help I can get! Thanks.

SOURCE: needle wont go up and down.

well,it seem that your upper camshaft was stuck due to several factor on mechanical linkages and maybe on gears. You have to isolate the checking since you have clean lower bobbins free from dirt and thread/fabrics chips. If there an opening on top of machine open it to check some mechanical destorsion or breakage.Check some broken gears inside. If nothing try to open also at the bottom of machine cover and there are also belt and gears connected to the motors and bobbins shuttle holder if so oil all shafting oil port, oil port bushing specially on bushing near hand wheel there is port for oil,
check also motor assembly of machine, you can disconnect belt from motor release the bolt holding motor adjust to lower tension belt and release the belt.Take some tools such as monkey pliers or small pipe wrench that can hold hand wheel just crack in order to move suddenly after oiling for several hours sometime bushing and shafting rushes emerged or if you have anti rush spray put in on.After cracking and you can move a little crack only by your hand several time lleft and right until all linkages free from rush.If you can move all parts and hand wheel rotate freely.Check also motor by rotating the small pulley conncted to motor if free to move.if ok put back and reassembly all parts disconnected.try to move again by hand if free to move after all asssembly.Run machine using foot pedal.

MSRP on that machine is $269.99.
Smooth machines are probably going to start around $400.
Do yourself a favor. Go to a local sewing machine dealer so you can try out the machine before you buy it. Also, take advantage of classes and knowledge of your dealer. You can spend $600 online and still get a loud, shakey machine. Or, go to a sewing machine dealer, try the machine and probably pay about $400. Check out the Husqvarna Viking Emerald 116, MSRP of $399.

Hi Jayn.

First check to see if your Husqvarna is still under warranty. If so take it in to the dealer for service.

I just did a little research and found that a recall was issued for some Designer 1s for power supplies overheating. The information on that is found here....

and here....

For additional information, please contact Husqvarna Viking at (800) 446-2333 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.

It sounds as if you have gotten hit with an energy spike. I make sure I unplug all of my sewing machines at night for this reason. But let's try a few things.

You said that if you place your hand where the USB goes, it flickers. What happens when you grasp and gently wiggle the USB when it is plugged in? Does it still flicker? If it does it makes me think there is a short or bad ground and needs service by a qualified professional. (basically you are becoming the ground when you touch there.)

Is there any screen brightness adjustment knob that perhaps got moved, bumped or turned by curious little fingers?

I think your best bet considering the value of your machine is to take it in for servicing.

Machine will not sew correctly

The Topaz 30 is a relatively new machine and should still be under Viking's warranty if you bought it new from an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. Suggest you take it back to an authorized dealer--preferably the one where you bought it. The machines have a 5 and 20 year warranty for parts, etc. Most dealers will give you a 6 months to 1 year warranty if you bought it from them. There have been a couple of software updates released for this model. You can find more information at the husqvarna viking website. By clicking on the "Dealer's" link you can find the nearest authorized dealer. http://www.husqvarnaviking.com

Trying to locate a particular husqvarna sewing machine

This is a picture of my mum's machine from the 70's, which I still use regularly, the Husqvarna 3310.
The interesting feature was is doesn't need oiling. It's been a brillliant machine with no problems (until one I have at the moment). Good Luck.
