The 60CT-4 was not made for digital cameras.
It does TTL on film not on CMOS or CCD sensor.

SOURCE: Metz Flash Power?

Hi Tom,

The battery is Metz Accu 60-38 4.5Ah at 6VDC
VRLA Battery 100 20 4010

Any Pb battery at 4.5Ah or higher will do.
Toy & Us sells some of them for kid cars.

SOURCE: Metz 58 AF with Nikon d90 wont flash

Hi, Bad news for you.

Try this.

  1. put new batteries in flash.
  2. turn flash on off camera.
  3. listen for capacitor to squeal (high pitched whistle). If you hear it it is charging. If not capacitor is bad.
  4. Also should see flash ready light come on. If it does not same as #3 above.
  5. If you pass #3 & 4# above press manual flash/check/test button on flash. No flash means bulb is out. It can be replaced.
Hope this fixed ya. Please rate. Good Luck! Comment back if you need further assistance.

Metz 60 CT4

The Metz 60CT-4 uses Accu 60-38 4.5Ah @6V Pb battery.
Charging system is difference from NiMH battery.

Beside the voltage is only 1.2VDC per cell on NiMH battery.
Four cells will have a total of 4.8VDC.
If you got five (5) cells: 1.2 X 5 = 6.0VDC. Do not charge these cells with Metz. Use NiMH Charger for NiMH battery.

NiCad battery not charging

the charger adapter that plugs into the battery pac from the wall has a fuse inside it open it uo and check the fuse has not blown as that's normally the reason i get no light on the pac also using a small enough file clean off all the terminals and check that the spring terminals contacting the circuit board from the plug are not corroded and contacting correctly

Metz 60-4 flash takes much longer than normal for the ready light to come on to allow me to take another photo.

It is likely the capacitor in the battery pack. If they are not powered up every month, they dry out resulting in long power up and recycle times. You'll need to get it replaced to rejuvenate your 60 CT-4 to its original spec.
