Help us fix our Asko T753 electric dryer. The dryer is making thumping noises when on - working well otherwise, but the noise is quite loud!
We took the dryer apart last weekend and the rollers appear to be fine. The belt from what we can see shows no signs of fraying or wear.
Of note:
When we open the dryer door and manually turn the drum of the dryer we do not hear the sound/thudding.
When we had the dryer apart and manually turned the entire drum from the outside of the drum not where the clothes go - the part of the drum only accessible when the dryer is apart the thudding noise was made.
We are thinking it might be the belt - and since the belt is $30 and the rollers are $65/each from what we are wondering what we should do. We are no stranger to appliance repairs, but the high price tag of the rollers and belt - combined with the fact that our washer and dryer are dependent upon each other for a power source - give us pause. For those not familiar with Asko Washers/Dryers the washer plugs into the dryer for power

All dryers have some type of roller system that supports the drum as it turns. It sounds like one of the rollers or roller bearings has worn and is making that thumping noise. If you have some basic skills and good general mechanical sense you could fix it yourself. Make sure the dryer is unplugged before you attempt anything.
You need to have your drum rollers replaced, they are making the noise because they are falling apart.
Also it could be or include the drum belt breaking down and falling apart...which means its about to break.
Normally pretty cheap parts can be found on the net...look around.
Its a pretty easy fix.
Normally the noise you hear is caused by the drum rollers having flat spots on them or needing lubricant.
If this is what is wrong It will make a kind of thumping noise.
When they need lubricant they will normally make a squealing noise also. You would lube the shaft and bearing area of the roller, using a good machine oil...something like "3 in One" oil.
Take off the back panel of the dryer and look at the motor and belt turning the drum. There may be something caught on the drum and is pinned in place causing the noise. The motor could be loose on the platform and needs to be tightened. It is probably something physical and seen causing the noise.
